My Dad

My Dad died yesterday.
He was just very recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer that had spread to other parts of his body.
He is now pain-free.
He loved helping Mom garden.
They did LOTS of it.
He was my hero.

ABC Wednesday - N is for Nursery

Below

Big Box Store items, for the most part, just waiting to get outdoors.
I hadn't put them out yet, because the weather turned cold again.

3 'Little Missy' Hemerocallis, 3 'Final Touch' Hemerocallis, 2 pink fernleaf Bleeding Heart, 3 Peruvian Daffodils' Ismene (not hardy here), Clematis 'City of Lion,' 25 Liatris, some calla lilies, rain lilies and, of course, you see the amaryllis bulbs! ;-) I think it's supposed to begin warming yet this week!

They're young.
I'm going to plant a few here and share a few others.
(Esp. the liatris!)

Green Thumb Sunday - Yellow is for

Daffodils

Wait! Those aren't daffodils!

What?

These aren't daffodils, either!

Where are the daffodils?

Oh! Here they are!

A number of different varieties, but I don't know "who" they are. I just can't keep track of everybody! ;-)

Not "shady," just fun!

ABC Wednesday - Morning Has Broken

Click on the "M" at left to visit the ABC Wednesday Challenge to see who has posted this week. You could create a post yourself!

Morning Has Broken

Morning has broken like the first morning;
blackbird has spoken like the first bird.
Praise for the singing!
Praise for the morning!
Praise for them, springing fresh from the Word!

Sweet the rain's new fall sunlit from heaven,
like the first dewfall on the first grass.
Praise for the sweetness
of the wet garden,
sprung in completeness where his feet pass.

Mine is the sunlight! Mine is the morning
born of the one light Eden saw play!
Praise with elation,
praise every morning,
God's re-creation of the new day.

Mr Shady and I were out listening for turkeys around 5:15 - 6:15 A.M. last Sunday morning. The photo was taken on our way out of the woods. It was a gorgeous day! Something for which to be thankful! :-)

Garden Bloggers' Muse Day - April 2011

Yes, I'm late.
It seems that's the norm these days...
But I could not take the chance in missing this pleasant way
to celebrate the beginning of each month.

and other Muse Day posts.

Forsythia - at daybreak (my house is not pink)

"But words are things,
and a small drop of ink,
falling like dew upon a thought,
produces that which makes thousands,
perhaps millions,
think."
by Lord Byron, 1788-1824

I might add that a photograph
is not so bad either, in producing
a thought...
Have a great day. SG

Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah...

A friend and I went out for lunch. We "splurged" on a special drink - a Mango Smoothie! As we each took our first sip, we said... "Aaaaaaah."

Now - that one little sigh was a memory-jogger!

Do you remember the cartoon Quick Draw McGraw? I realize I'm dating myself. However, he had a dog named Snuffles that LOVED dog bones. He'd get so excited after eating one, he'd hug himself about three times, rise in the air and float down with the big sigh, "Aaaaaaaah."

For your viewing enjoyment - and your future point of reference when ever you have that total enjoyment and "Aaaaaah" moment . . .

Click on these words!

Nothing shady - just fun! :-)
And yes, I have my computer back - temporarily.
Just testing!

ABC Wednesday - L is for...

Listless?

No.

Languishing?
Nope!

My computer's visiting
the "Computer Doctor,"
and I'm at the
Library!

Am I at a
Loss?

Not yet...

I'm outdoors (yea!)

Raking
Leaves!

And
Loving it!

(Last

Fall's mulch and this
Spring's recent oak
Leaf fall.)

Would you cut me some
Latitude?

And
Let

me post some photos
Later?
