Flat-Ware Friday! ;-)

I'll provide a link to my upcoming "tutorial" soon, but for now...

Tah-dah!

The outcome of a Fun Workshop this evening!
Members of our little local Garden Club enjoyed a couple of hours' fun.

Flattened flatware
(I'll soon turn up those curly tines a bit more, to close each loop.)
You might like to consider making this project, too.

While all flatware will offer a semblance of music,
creating one of these is Best done with Silver or Silver-plated flatware.
(Silver is more malleable.)

Now, that being said, look for one fork from which to hang your windchime,
and four more utensils for the chime itself.

Fun times!

Trend or Trending
A trillium found in the woods in 2007 had 5 petals;
Below, in 2008, it had 4 petals;
 Below, in 2009, it had 3 petals (as it should);
 In 2010, it had 4 petals;

Again, in 2011, it had 4 petals.
 And in 2012??  We shall see!  :-)
 (Are you noticing the distinct change in markings, also?)

Paper
(If it's in print, is it not real?)

A Snowy Day - February 4, 2012

The snow was heavy.  It was Wet.  The Flakes fell in "clumps." The snowfall didn't last very long and the snow didn't remain long on the ground!

But it was wonderful while it happened.  It was a reminder of "what is supposed to happen during Winter in Iowa!"

I filled the bird feeders and everyone was happy!  :-)

PS  The snow is again gone.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Brings Five New Words!

Strike a Pose
Campanula glomerata 'Supurba' - Clustered Bellflower
Upward facing violet ‘bells’ on 1-2’ plants are clustered at the top of upright stems.  They need only a moderately rich, well-drained soil and full sun or partial shade  A vigorous grower, the stunning richly colored violet flowers are on stiff stems. Blooms heavily in late spring through early summer. Cutting back foliage by half to 2/3rds after flowering will keep the mound low and compact if foliage declines. Can be divided every 3-4 years in spring or autumn.

Footwear
These Eastland shoes lasted from 1982 to 2010.  Not bad!
They worked very well as nice, leather gardening shoes!

Shiny
Chandeliers inside State Senate Chamber of the Iowa State Capital building.

Hobby

Traditional Ukranian egg decorating for Easter.

Color Me Green
 Allium 'Hair'
Not scary - but it LOOKS like it!  lol
