I have always loved toad lilies. Thanks for the post. It was a reminder for me to get some. Don't you think it should have a prettier name. Most toads are not as lovely.
Bob, You're right about the name, because the flowers are so unique. I don't know how they received their moniker either! But I really am a toad fan, though... as I'm sure you are also. I raked a few leaves yesterday and left them overnight in the tarp so I could finish the job this morning. When I unrolled the tarp, a sudden movement caught my eye. It was a toad that was NOT going to the ravine. He found himself back in a flower bed! :-)
Dellits, This toad lily is different and special because it likes kind of moist/well-drained, shady spots. You want to place it close to where you'll see it because the blossoms are actually only about an inch or so across!

that lily is gorgeous...lillies are one of my favorites!
