  1. I have always loved toad lilies. Thanks for the post. It was a reminder for me to get some. Don't you think it should have a prettier name. Most toads are not as lovely.

    You're right about the name, because the flowers are so unique. I don't know how they received their moniker either!
    But I really am a toad fan, though... as I'm sure you are also. I raked a few leaves yesterday and left them overnight in the tarp so I could finish the job this morning. When I unrolled the tarp, a sudden movement caught my eye. It was a toad that was NOT going to the ravine. He found himself back in a flower bed! :-)

    This toad lily is different and special because it likes kind of moist/well-drained, shady spots. You want to place it close to where you'll see it because the blossoms are actually only about an inch or so across!
