Hey, Bud! Where did you go?
See those nice big chunks back there?
And then (I can hardly wait!) I'm going to plant
a shorter variety of Butterfly Bush!
Hurrah!
(I haven't purchased it, yet. I want to see if I can find it at a local nursery.
If not, I'll order it.)
It looks as though I need to begin some serious trimming on my forsythia!
Yo-Hoo! Bud....?
Oh!
There you are!
Now, look at the following photograph. I'm going to remove the rocks at the front of this bed. I'll replace them with two layers of "chunk." It may help level the bed a bit. Then I plan to reposition the rocks in front to make a lowered layer.
(Can you visualize that?)

Hens and Chicks on the left and a Hyacinth (my lone).
Well, for heaven's sakes! Did that little guy hybernate
'neath the sedum?

Same sedum on the left, a trimmed miniature rose in front (I have the variety, but not right here), that lone hyacinth back there, some daffodils that somehow are crowded into the bed with a prickly rose! Yuck! Who thought THAT would be comfortable?
So daffodils now and Butterfly bush later - sounds like a good plan, Shady!
ReplyDeleteI used to buy Tete a tete daffodils in bloom at the grocery store when we still lived in IL, enjoyed them in the house, then planted them outside in May. By the time we moved there were little daffodils all over the place - yours look so cute.

Very fun. Just heard the forecast here and I heard the evil "S" word. Are they kidding me? --Curmudgeon
ReplyDeleteNice to see spring has arrived in your garden! YAY!
ReplyDeleteSpring is here in Ontario too, but a bit behind you. Isn't this a wonderful time of year?
Hi Annie,
ReplyDeleteIt has been a Beautiful, Warm morning, so I took the time to Nearly finish the little wall. I've taken photos and will post tonight. It looks as though you've adapted to TX very well! :-)
WWW - "S" - No Way! Are you close to Mt. McKinley??? ;-)
DK - My knees are filthy! And I'm so happy about it! ;-) What's great about watching your Spring arrive is that mine is only just a "minute" ahead! It's hard, in a way, to see gardens that are "miles" ahead of mine...
Hi Shady Gardener,
ReplyDeleteHad to stop by and see what's blooming in your garden. Your daffodils are awesome! I planted some daffodil bulbs in the fall. They're poking through now so it shouldn't be much longer.
Going to try some dandelion greens, eh? That's a great way to justify their existence in the garden! ;)
Cathy
Ah, the northern garden. You make me think of Maine. Still, those early blooms are such delight. I'm a sucker for daffs any day.
ReplyDeleteCathy, Thanks for stopping to enjoy my daffodils - I know you'll soon be enjoying your own! I'll let you know how the dandelions taste! ;-)
ReplyDeleteSarah, I need to be reminded of where you are! There is a myriad of types of daffodils, which also makes it fun! :-) Thanks for visiting.
I enjoyed seeing your daffodils and was most impressed with all of the work you have done with the rocks in the post above.
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful to see all the shoots of new plants pushing through.
Kate, I need to see what's happening at Your place. We've seen the arrival of Spring before you...
ReplyDeleteI like how the rock wall looks, don't you? Now to finish that and make a "home" for my butterfly bush (that I haven't purchased yet). ;-)
