Wouldn't You Just Know It?
I missed my Blog's Birthday!

It was one year ago, May 21, that I created this blog and my first post.
And it was exactly one week later that I heard the
same sound I heard tonight...
...and wrote this crazy post!
I do think it's "the fox," though.
I'd not had my digital camera very long. I hadn't
played with the video option.
Here's the sound I heard this evening.
It's the same.
Wonder if I should call my neighbor and remind him of our escapade! ha.
As I write this post, I'm hearing a Barred Owl... "who cooks for you.
who cooks for you-all."
Oops. He stopped.
Should have taped that, too!
:-)
Have a great night!!
Oh! Just in case you're interested... check out "Making Memories" and "Odds and Ends" for the latest happenings.
Hi Shady! Congrats on the blogiversary!! My 2nd year is coming up soon, so I better have something pretty cool for that... maybe the Dragon Arum! You might want to check into some of the various arums for your garden ... most like shade/part shade and are quite strange and exotic. My sister shared one of her two new "Voodoo Lilies" with us today and we're very excited to get it in the ground. Anyway, something to research and consider (though most stink when they bloom, lol).
ReplyDeleteLoved the soundbite!
IVG, Thanks for your visit! I actually planted Arum Italica three Falls ago, so this is their second Spring. They did nothing else last year besides grow their unusual leaves. I'm watching for other signs this year, though! :-)
ReplyDeleteCongrats! What a weird noise foxes make. I'm never heard one live, only coyote yips. The fox noise kind of sounds like it's trying to cough up a hairball.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on one year in the Blogosphere, Shady Gardener - and I like the way you put in that sound bite! The first time I heard a Screech owl whinney like a pony it freaked me out - but don't think a fox has ever barked in my real life.

Shady, I bet your arum italicum will bloom this year. Our Dracunculus came up the first year, but only put out a bunch of leaves and then died back. Last year, wow! I'll be excited to see pics of yours when they bloom! You should check out the fun plant Don has up today at An Iowa Garden. It will give you a big ole smile! (At least it did me.)
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! And I don't know if I would have gone outside all by myself after hearing a sound like that, LOL.
ReplyDeleteMMD, It IS odd, isn't it? Last year it had a "strangly" noise, too. That's why I ventured outdoors!
ReplyDeleteAnnie, Thanks! A screech owl's voice can be unnerving! I don't know why the fox was barking, but he kept it up for probably an hour.
IVG, I'm sure I saw one bud yesterday on an Arum! I hope I get to enjoy it. I'm part of a 10-person group that leaves Saturday for Mississippi to work on a Katrina house. We'll return June 8.
Lisa, I was out with my cell phone(!). ha.
Shady... Happy First Birthday to you; Happy First Birthday to you.... well, you get the idea.
ReplyDelete:o) Don
Don, Thanks!! lol :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary... may your next year of blogging continue to inspire, enlighten and amuse fellow gardeners and bloggers, everywhere!
ReplyDeleteGA, Thanks for the comment. We'll make the attempt. ;-)
