I photographed this in Mississippi.
I have no idea what it is!
We could muse...

Check out other Muse Day posts at
Carolyn Gail's "Sweet Home and Garden Chicago"
These posts will be lovely and sensitive.
You will enjoy them.
But I just couldn't help it!
This is my chance to share a silly poem on
"A Muse" Day
post. :-)
(My apologies, Carolyn!)

"The Twins"
by Henry S. Leigh
In form and feature, face and limb,
I grew so like my brother,
that folks got taking me for him,
and each for one another.
It puzzled all our kith and kin,
it reached an awful pitch;
For one of us was born a twin,
yet not a soul knew which.
One day (to make the matter worse),
before our names were fixed,
As we were being washed by nurse
we got completely mixed;
And thus, you see, by Fate's decree,
(or rather nurse's whim),
My brother John got christened me,
and I got christened him.
This fatal likeness even dogg'd
my footsteps when at school,
And I was always getting flogged,
for John turned out a fool.
I put this question hopelessly
to every one I knew ---
What would you do, if you were me,
to prove that you were you?
Our close resemblance turned the tide
of my domestic life;
For somehow my intended bride
became my brother's wife.
In short, year after year the same
absurd mistake went on;
And when I died - the neighbors came
and buried brother John!

Only slightly shady. lol.
Hilarious, Shady ! Thanks for adding a little mirth to our GBMD.
ReplyDeleteThat's a hoot. I loved it. I wish I knew some twins to share it with.
ReplyDeleteLOL! I have 2 sets of identical twin first cousins. My sister should have had an identical twin too. It's taken years for me to be able to tell my cousins apart.
ReplyDeleteThe cute poem is a-muse-ing, Shady - but that weird plant is interesting too - looks like a leftover Christmas pointsettia on LSD.

Hi Carolyn, Glad you liked it. :-) Sometimes life gets way too busy and serious!
ReplyDeleteCindy, Thanks for visiting. I wish you knew some twins, too. Hold onto the poem, perhaps you'll find some! :-)
MMD, TWO sets! That's amazing. I have twin nephews. Now that they're grown, I can tell them apart... ;-)
Hi Annie, Thanks. You're right about that plant. I was hoping someone would help me with it. Guess I'll have to go to a plant ID source!
Hey Shady,
ReplyDeleteI was puzzled by that plant too, and the best I could come up with was poinsettia. I'm with Annie and her description, that was so funny! I suppose it's probably some kind of Euphorbia but that's a huge family of plants (from succulents to the common scourge of sidewalks, Spurge!). But this does appear to have some bracts (as far as I can see) and some probably really productive seeds going on ... well, at least if it's invasive, it's NOT in your garden!
IVG, When YOU stump me, at least you know the answer. When I stump people, I'm still "in the dark!" (Guess that's why I'm called "Shady!") ha. :-)
ReplyDeleteI forgot to comment on Annie's comment... that WAS hilarious! ha.
I took one more photo of this blossom, but I regret to say I didn't take a photo of the plant. How crazy is that? (Just being "artistic" isn't enough!) ;-)
I was oddly amused by this posting. Thanks for the plant enigma and the giggle! ~ Afraid I'm of no help in the ID department... looks "other-worldly!"
ReplyDeleteDeb, I'm good at "oddly-amusing!" ;-) Have a great 4th of July.
ReplyDeletelol
ReplyDeletepoor dude
I agree. How are you doing these days? I'm sorry I haven't visited.
