My Rainbow Garden

I have a Rainbow Garden
For inside of it you’ll see
Every color you would find
What a rainbow ought to be
The blue is for Forget-me-notsI have a Rainbow Garden
For inside of it you’ll see
Every color you would find
What a rainbow ought to be

(Asiatic lily - Crimson Pixie, bloomed in June)
Monarda (Jacob Cline, blooming now)My flowers are such a thrill

Whenever I see a rainbow, I remember say "thank you!" :-) Yours truly will be absent for a week or so. Going to visit son's family in Michigan. Have a wonderful week. And, check out Sweet Home Chicago to see other Muse Day Posts.
What a beautiful rainbow you have.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your visit with your son and family.
I forgot it was muse day! Thanks for the reminder! Fabulous rainbow of colors and flowers. I especially like the sweet sedum with the pinkish flower! The Ttricyrtis is interestig me these days!
ReplyDeleteGail
Bobbie, Thank you. I will. :-)
ReplyDeleteGail, Always glad to have you stop. One great aspect of garden blogs is learning about plants!
shady,
ReplyDeleteI love stopping by to see you! Tell me about the T hirta! IVG loves it and you have it, but could a clay and limestone garden grow it?
What have you been up to? Me, I am just staying out of the sun and heat!
You won't believe this, the word verification thingy actually spells~~ the tv mr!
Gail
Hi Gail,
ReplyDeleteTricyrtis hirta (all toad lilies) love shade!! That makes them very appealing. They grow different heights. We have a lot of heavy clay, here. I just add more soil. ;-)
I'm thinking you should try it!!!
Your Muse day post is great SG. I love rainbows especially when they are in the garden.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful flowers. Always an inspiration in this corner of the blog world. Visited Hayden Prairie yesterday and though far from late summer peak it was still good.
ReplyDeletetroutbirder
Beautiful rainbow flowers - I can't believe your Toad Lily is already blooming. None of mine are more than buds yet. Enjoy your Michigan trip - yes, Michigan.
ReplyDeleteHi Shady!
ReplyDeleteI'm late to the party as usual, but you've got a great rainbow going there! I wish I had Asclepias (Butterfly Weed) as nice as yours, because the ones I planted from seeds never get more than about 5" tall though they do bloom.
I think we have the same Tricyrtis! That sure looks like the one I featured recently at my place and is blooming unusually early for Toad Lilies. When did you put this in? I put mine in last year and it has spread a lot already! I have high hopes for it!
i nominated you over at my back away from the mom jeans blog..!!! :)
ReplyDeleteLove your Rainbow garden
ReplyDeleteLisa, Thanks for visiting! I agree... where would you ever enjoy a rainbow more, but outdoors in your garden? ;-)
ReplyDeleteTroutbirder, I hope we can make it to Hayden's Prairie sometime this fall. We have a wedding to attend in early September in Decorah and hope to do a little bike riding in Southeastern MN. :-) Not sure that's really on our way home...
MMD, I was more than surprised to see this plant blooming, too! HOwever, it was one of the Spring plantings this year... and it came from a wonderful site in Michigan (well started!)
Wouldn't it be fun to stop there on my way home?? Doubt that it will happen, as it will take me 10 hours to drive home, as it is...
IVG, How old is your Butterfly Milkweed? I think it's a pretty "touchy" plant, but once it really gets going it will thrive! As I told MMD, the Tricyrtis Hirta came mailorder in early Spring and was well-grown by the time it arrived. It will be fun to watch it, as you have, over the next couple of years! :-)
Dirty Fingernails, I'm honored. Thanks. Right now, I'm in Michigan and won't be home for a week or so. So I probably won't do anything until I get home. :-)
Rosemary, Thanks! :-)
Hey Shady,
ReplyDeleteMy Asclepias was planted from seed about 4 years ago, so maybe it will some day take off like yours. Your toad lily is great, and like mine, bloomed a bit the first year, though I suspect my plant might have been a bit bigger when it was planted.
You're lucky to be in MI now! Today at one point we reached 97 actual, 80 dew point and 118 heat index!! We didn't go out much and spent the time indoors working on other projects, because the temps were downright dangerous for extended stays. Enjoy your time up north!!!
The pictures are wonderful. I really like the theme.
ReplyDeleteHave been super busy with my new job, but now that my busy time is over I'll be stopping by, enjoy your blog, and also blogging again.
have a wonderful time with your family.
take care, Bob
What a beautiful muse day post:) I hope you had a lovely visit!
ReplyDeleteIVG, Hi. I'm sure your butterfly milkweed will soon meet your expectations. Once it's well established, it seems to "take off." I'm glad to have missed the heat wave. Things are better now?
ReplyDeleteBob, Thanks for stopping! I'm glad you're able to be posting again. I like your P.S. information. I'm curious about your new job! :-)
Brenda Jean, Thank you. We are having a wonderful time together! :-)
Shady ~ My kind of rainbow... an enjoyable, peaceful way to begin my Sunday morning. Great photos and what an early, eager little Toad Lily! Hope you had a wonderful visit! ...Deb
ReplyDeleteHi Deb! I'm happy to have you visit! I just got home (5:30 p.m. Tues, Aug. 12). It was hard to leave, but we did have a wonderful time together! :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Shady,
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are beautiful. I especially like the blackberry lily, water hyacinth and toad lily. I don't currently have a water garden so the hyacinth isn't really an option at this point, but I'm planning a trip to the garden center in the next couple of days and might just have to pick up a toad lily (been thinking about one of those for a while now).
Hope you didn't miss too many blooms while you were away.
Cathy
Hi Cathy, My water garden is just a mini container in the ground, but it satisfies a need. :-) It was pretty dry while I was gone, so things are in need of watering. I did a bit of that, plus deadheading and straightening when I got home. There's still more to do. Hopefully this evening! :-) I know you'll enjoy having a toad lily!
ReplyDeleteoh my gosh! These are wonderful and beautiful!!!!
ReplyDeleteyou are so good at this!!!
Thanks "dellits!" Did you say you'd be home for Thanksgiving?? Stray on down here! :-)
