Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day - "On Time!"

Okay.
It's raining outside (not a downpour),
and I decided to head outdoors to take a couple more photos!

I can take little credit for the success of the gardens this year.
We have enjoyed a wonderful growing season.
Everything was provided as needed...
(it was critical to water only a couple of times).
For that I am both grateful and humbled, as that's not the case everywhere.

This is what is blooming right now, as we speak! :-)
Japanese Anemone, Anemone japonica 'September Charms'?

Tricyrtis hirta,
variety unknown
(discount purchase)
The flower pot on the right is supposed to be a toad house. ;-)
A last look at the front beds - photo 1

"Stella Supreme" is such a great re-bloomer!
Notice there still buds forthcoming!

And I know this fellow is trying to tell me something.
Let's lean in... oh, yeah... I hear it!
"Come on, already. I want to go in. It's getting chilly out here!"
I understand completely.

I'll see if I can help him out later.
For the moment... I'm headed indoors!
(brrr!)
Shady G.

P.S. This is Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day. See Carol about Joining.

  2. Hey there, I am going to have to visit your yesterdays post too! Is it getting cold up there? It is still hot here but I have hope that fall will show up soon! You do have lots of color still happening. It's always a shocker when the first frost arrives to knock it out. When will you take your froggy indoors? Have a good day, Shady!

  3. Absolutely beautiful. I wish we could grow things like that in northern Alaska.

  4. Your beds still look so good. Only thing still blooming decently in mine are the impatiens and geraniums.
    Loooove that froggie.

  5. It is appropriate to have a toad house by your toad lily. Nice blooms. Stay warm.

  6. I have toad lily and anemone blooming in my back yard too. That and aster, black eyed susan and grasses pretty much completes the picture. But fall is so beautiful.

  7. Hi Karen, Thanks for your visit. I think most of the color is in the impatiens and petunias. :-)

Gail, Yep. It's kind of cold around here. I just checked the forecast. It's to be 36 degrees tonight, but these next few days are to be warmer. I'd better be planting my bulbs asap!!

Rachel, Thank you for visiting. I need to visit you to see what you CAN grow up there! :-)

flydragon, Glad for your visit. Most of my color comes from impatiens, petunias, etc., too!

Lisa, :-) I kept putting toads in there all summer. Hopefully they got the idea! ha.

Ottawa Gardener, Thank you for visiting. Your garden sounds very colorful. I'll be visiting soon. :-)

  8. Your Japanese anemone looks beautiful. I think they bloom a little late for my zone, but I'm tempted to try one.
You are lucky to find a lovely Tricyrtis on sale.
Your front beds are so colourful still. Is it time for toad hibernation already?

  9. Pretty pretty pretty.
Can't believe so many people still have so much color.
My memory of this time of the year must be off kilter.

  10. Nice glimpse of those summer memories. My favorite anemone! You surely do have much to enjoy, before autumn really asserts itself.

There have been a couple of nights in the forties, but no thirties, yet. We've been through an enjoyable, "windows open in the daytime" spell. But now we're expecting cooler temps for the weekend. A few leaves are starting to fall... it's coming!

Don't keep that poor frog waiting too long. I have a bluejay and dove knocking on the garden shed window, ready for their winter vacation. They've been playing checkers all season on the picnic table (I'll have to post it, some cold winter's day).

  11. Hi Deb, I thought I'd replied, here. Guess not. I've taken only a few photos of our colorful leaves this past week or so. I should post them, shouldn't I? :-)I'm ready to see photos of that bluejay and dove, esp. like to see that checker game! ha.

  12. Yes, let's see that fall foliage! Perhaps my checker-playing birds will fly over to Grouse & Chortle tomorrow, for a quick game...Deb

  13. I'm very late in coming by but I still wanted to see what you had blooming and thank you for joining in!

Fall in the garden can be so pretty, as your pictures show.
