Pear Pie

They say a picture is worth a thousand words.

That being said, here are your pictures. :-)

Imagine still-warm pear pie, having recently been removed from the oven, topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

Didn't someone once say something like, "This isn't Iowa - it's heaven!" ;-)

Have a great day.

  2. Substitute peaches for me instead of pears, and I'm knocking on your door.

  4. Hi everyone, Yes! It was delicious! My husband and I each had a piece last night, and I shared it with friends today. :-)

I'll be making another! Just make it like an apple pie, excepting use 1/2 tsp. of ground mace instead of cinnamon.

  5. Hi Shady, I have never had pear pie either, but will have to remedy that. Your baking skills are a gift!

  6. Gorgeous photos - can almost breathe in the fragrance and taste that flaky crust from the east coast!

However, I must take you to task. You've done it again... more pure torture for chunky gardeners who have no business eating, or contemplating eating, pie (me!).

I now feel so guilt-ridden from this viewing, that I'm leaving to rake leaves at Mom's house... OK, I was going anyway, but exercise is a better alternative for this pie-lovin' gardener. ~ Deb

  7. Hi Deb! You gave me quite the chuckle!! The good thing about this pie is there's only 1/2 cup sugar in the whole thing! :-)

  8. Hi Frances, How did you sneak in there with a comment that I didn't see?? Baked good are a gift to give and to receive! :-)

  9. Hi Shady,
That sure is a lovely pie, and quite artfully done with the crust. I never bake pies (though Fernymoss does at Thanksgiving) because I so rarely eat pie ... just never had a taste for it for some reason. I do have a slice or two of pumpkin pie each year and maybe some pecan pie, but the rest of the year, the thought never enters my mind!

Next time I make French Baguettes, I'll have to take some pictures and post my super secret recipe too, hehe. :-)

  10. IVG, I like to make fresh pies when I can. We've had such a bountiful crop of apples and pears (thanks to friends) that I've been baking many different items.

Hmmm French Baguettes...now, that would be a Great recipe to have!!! Whenever you wish to share... :-)

  11. Hi Shady,
Next time I make a batch of vegetable potage and baguettes, I'll take pictures and post them! It's one of our winter staples, and a pretty economical dish that lasts us several days.... Good for you, too!

  13. Hi Joey, It really was good. In fact, I made a pear pie with a crumble topping that everyone said was good. (I shared it at Church last night and didn't get a piece!) ha.

  14. That looks really good! Romie wants me to make some pear pies with our neighbor's pears and I'm just not a pie baker. But I might have to try, after seeing yours!

  15. It turned out very good, Kylee. They are a little more "watery" than apple. But... hey, a warm slice of pie with vanilla ice cream?! ;-)
