Iowa State Flower - Wild Rose

A friend sent me the following card.
Had I checked my e-mail Sunday,
this would have been the post.

State Flowers

Lovely flowers.
Look for yours!

  1. Guess what? We got that card also.
    I really enjoyed it.
I have a question...are you still doing "Summer 2008 Inspiration".
I'ts a wonderful idea. I remember that November is for a gardener who inspired you. I know I have a few. Being that the season is over it's the perfect time to reflect and give thanks. Should I post anyway and credit you of course.
    Thanks,
    Patsi

  2. Hi Shady,

A lovely rose! I like the sweet pink color. Our state flower is the Iris; a purple one if I am remembering correctly.

    Have a good day! Gail

  3. Patsi, I guess I've deleted (forever) the Summer Inspiration Meme. I wasn't getting any feedback (other than yours and that of a couple of others very early in October) so I concluded no one was interested. Wrong conclusion, I guess. Thank you for remembering and I'll be happy to read your post!! (And if you do, you'll get a prize, too! Send me an e-mail to let me know how to get ahold of you!)

Gail, It is a pretty rose. It's a little harder to find, these days, due to the ditch spraying of many years ago, etc. I think it's beginning to make a return appearance. (I understand it's fairly aggressive.) :-)

By-the-by, I'll send you a little something, too... for participating early on in the Summer 2008 Inspiration meme. I gave it up, due to what I perceived as a general lack of interest. (It was a LOT of work, so I'm not going to re-create it.) Oops.

  4. Shady ~ Enjoyed the card and I love your wild rose. Ours is Trailing Arbutus, which I've only seen in photos and paintings. ~ Deb

  5. Hi All, you can see I've re-established the Summer 2008 Inspiration Meme. Thanks, Patsi!

Deb, I'm going to have to look up Trailing Arbutus. It must be rare these days, if you've not seen it!

Thank you for visiting today. I don't mean to make it hard for you to leave a message, but temporarily I am going to enable word verification. Too many spam messages to deal with lately. Thanks for your patience! SG
