Best wishes for a Wonderful (restful!) Christmas celebration and holiday season. May you be blessed with safe travel and the making of memories to warm the heart during the rest of this Winter season. :-)
Gladsome Be?
The driving snow is like a mist,
I cannot see but quite –
The trees across the backyard,
Are finely dressed in white.
December’s gift, sight to behold,
I cannot get it right –
Am I gladsome, am I not?
As gusts whisk flakes in flight…
I then inspect from inside out,
My heart has reached its height –
The beauty-gift I love the most -
The arms of friends held tight.
So then I utter “Thank you”
To the One who offers bright;
Truth and beauty to absorb
And Self throughout the night.

ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you
ReplyDeleteYou're a poet! Just love it !
ReplyDeleteBest wishes for this season.
Hi Shady,
ReplyDeleteLovely poem and great pictures of our snowy terrain right now ... but honestly, I'm really hating the cold right now! No risks of a brown Christmas for us here this year, and we too are looking forward to a happier 2009 ... sometime during which we'll have a new pup in the house to cheer us up.
I hope you and your family have a peaceful, restful and wonderful time together this week! We'll be going very low key this year (for obvious reasons) but hope we have a couple of nice days and nights together enjoying the companionship. Wednesday night we'll have my sister and her boyfriend over for a quiet dinner and gift exchange, and Thursday we will spend at Fernymoss' parents, equally low key and calm. At least we'll be enjoying their dog Lacey, the lovable Golden Retriever we sometimes dogs it when they go out of town. She's a lovely and wonderful dog we always welcome here for her brief stays. We love that breed, but they're way too big for our house and we have to enjoy her from afar....
Beautiful and peaceful... Thank You!
ReplyDeleteWe just got 10" of snow Friday, and another 10" yesterday... even with some promised rain (right now it's 8ยบ), I suspect we'll still have a somewhat white Christmas... it's gorgeous right now!
Wonderful poem and lovely winter photos. Have a great holiday.
ReplyDeleteDear Shady G; What a lovely, beautiful, uplifting, and inspiring poem! I don't know how I missed it until today! But, I'm glad I found it! I hope your Christmas was bright and joyous...filled with love and all good things! Your poem would go so well on my site...'giving thanks', etc...I'd love to 're-post' it there, with your permission...!!???
ReplyDeletePlease let me know so I can write a little post for it and include it, of course linking it to YOU. It's beautiful! Jan
Thank you all for your comments and wishes. Forgive me for not answering personally at this time. We just now returned home after a long journey (a normally 10-hour trip took about 12 hours.) SG
ReplyDeleteBlessed with a gift, I was touched by your poem, Shady. Wishing you a blessed New Year!
ReplyDeleteLovely snow!
ReplyDeleteJoey, Thank you for your compliment. I just steered my daughter to your site. I know she'll enjoy it, too! :-)
ReplyDeleteLeedra, I think so, too! However, our recent weather has made most of it disappear. (I'm sure we'll be getting more! ha!) :-)
Shady,
ReplyDeleteLovely post and I really like your poem. Beautiful.
Hope you have a good 2009.
Regards
K
