Without further ado... I've some Spring blossoms for you!

(Front) PJM Rhododendron
(I have a tiny one in back that I planted 4 years ago)

Grape hyacinth

Azure hyacinths planted last Fall

Heartleaf Brunnera
Dutchman's Breeches
Hellebore (wish I knew the variety)
'Majeste' Pulmonaria (planted last Spring)

'Trevi Fountain' Pulmonaria is 5 years old
The Virginia Bluebells look better every day!

Vinca Minor
I have planted a variety of daffodils...
all unnamed.

Believe it or not, my thumb is on the top of the petal,
and my index finger is touching the other petal...
There are several of these large blooms -
different color combinations (obviously different varieties!)
The hyacinth in front has divided.
There are now two of them here.

  1. Hi SG~~ Teza did a post on Virginia Bluebells recently. It is really an intriguing plant. I'm thinking it might be time to add this to my burgeoning wish list. :)

  2. Wow!!! The bluebells are my favorite though. They say to me woodland edges, cow pastures and spring.

  4. Grace, You'd like it. It spreads, but not terribly invasively... and the little leaves are very recognizable, so it wouldn't be hard to "take care of them" if there were too many.

troutbirder, The blue bells and the Dutchman's Breeches. ;-) Thanks for visiting.

Hi Rosemary! Do you suppose it was the water that made some of the daffodils grow so large??

  5. I'm wanting Virginia Bluebells too. I've been seeing pics of them and they are great. I'm not familiar with the Dutchman's Breeches but have seen pics a couple times lately too. Your getting a collection of Pulmonaria - I have one and just love it.

  8. Hooray, spring! I love everything, especially the 'Trevi Fountain' Pulmonaria.

  9. Raingardener, You need to get them! They are so easy (at least, for me) to grow. If they're happy, they just reseed on down the road! ha.

Catherine, I know! :-) Thanks for stopping in.

flowergirl1 - it is amazing to me, too! I don't remember that any of my daffs were so large before... Last year's growing season, I guess! ;-)

Hi Monica, I'm more than ready to see what your pulmonaria are doing. They change every day, don't they?? :-)

  10. My, the Crown Imperial is beautiful. I love the hyacinths and the Helleborus. It's wonderful to see so many plants in bloom!

  11. Kate, It would even be better if they all were in one garden bed!! :-) I really did plant a red Crown Imperial, too... guess I'll have to look at my map!

  12. You have so many bright spring colours. I love the blue blooms of grape hyacinths, and the azure ones are a particularly nice shade. The blue Brunnera flowers are a real joy, another pretty blue shade, and fairly long lasting for a spring bloom. My Pulmonaria are just sending up new leaves, so it will be awhile until the flowers appear. The yellow daffodils are nice companions to all the blue bulbs and flowers.

  13. Hi SG, I love all your photos, especially the two that show the new growth. The only plants among them I have are the grape hyacinths, which i planted years and years, and which come back every spring and hellebores - i also lose track of which is which. I think of yours as lenten rose, but maybe that is a popular non specific name.

  14. Nice collection of plants. I think my fave is the Dutchman's Breeches.

  15. Your garden has sprung to life Shady Gardener. It's beautiful. Your Imperial Fritillaria looks so much nicer than mine. It never recovered from the snow and cold.

  16. Northern Shade, I hope I'm only getting you excited about your soon-to-be-blooming plants!! It will be soon your turn to be taking photos!! :-) I really love this shade of blue... it's rather a rarity, don't you think? With a few exceptions, I'm wondering if it's perhaps a wonderful Spring Gift?

catmint, The only thing I know about hellebores is what I see on blogs and the ones I have. They do call them lenten roses, too. How is your hellebore different? Would you post a photo sometime and alert me?

MBTh, I'm with you. It's very special.

Kathleen, Mine is a new bulb, planted last Fall. I cannot explain why it should look better than yours!! (However, so far, the red hasn't appeared. I'll be checking on it sometime today.)

  17. That daffodil is huge! I am partial to the grape hyacinth, but the bluebells look great. I might have to look into getting some of those.
You have great color and variety.

  18. Hi Brandy, It's been very exciting this Spring. I'm not sure if things are showing up (or off!) earlier or not? Last Spring we had SO much rain... perhaps we're reaping the benefits this year. You'd like Virginia Bluebells!
