Are you enjoying your local Fall Color?Personally, I'm wondering if we'll have much Autumn this year... the weather has been cold and wet for quite awhile (with a day or 1/2 day of sunshine here and there). ;-) Keep on your toes, enjoy whatever you can of the season, and now...

All I can say is that my Gooseneck Loosestrife doesn't turn a pretty color. It must be because it doesn't get full sun. All of the color you presented here is cheerful.

ReplyDeleteShady, The fall color looks great in your neck of the garden. I wonder, too when fall color will arrive~~it would be especially nice to see the sky a pleasant blue instead of gray. But it isn't freezing and for that we are lucky. gail
ReplyDeleteYou have some lovely fall colors there in Iowa. My husband and I were just talking about how the trees have changed color all of a sudden it seems. I'll have to get out and take some photos.
ReplyDeleteThanks to each of you for your kind comments. I appreciate Dave's patience, in that this post doesn't really show the PEAK of color. But, actually, I'm not sure we'll see that this year. Many trees are already dropping their leaves and not achieving much color at all.

I can see why you need special leaf collecting equipment: that is a lot of trees you've got there.
It looks like a bummer here too Shady. Sub freezing, snow, and not a trace of red so far. Oh well.

ReplyDeleteThe leaves in your area are really getting pretty, Shady! The colour in NS was so spectacular last year that I think 2009 will pale by comparison. I've been putting off taking my "Fall Colour" photos, thinking that they hadn't peaked yet, but I think I'd better get on it! They might be as good as they get. :)

Troutbirder, If YOU aren't seeing color up there... I'm going to assume that the trees that are fading from green to browns and dull yellows will probably stay pretty much that way. We've enjoyed some sunshine today!! yea!

Hi Nancy, As I drove out this morning, I thought perhaps I was premature, but when you look closely... perhaps not. We may last awhile longer, but I'm not sure there will be a lot more color. (Hope I'm wrong!!!) :-)

Hi Catherine, Today is a busy day so I'm not able to get out and actually DO anything too constructive today. I did enjoy the sunshine this morning. I wonder if more clouds are coming our way, now? Hmmm.

Autumn color looks pretty decent around your house. Here, it stinks. I can't tell if we're past peak or haven't reached it yet, or are at peak. That's how bad. I love plants like your Loosestrife and Forsythia that have added fall interest.

ReplyDeleteThe Loosestrife was a nice surprise for me this Fall. It probably has changed color before, but it is more pronounced this year... thankfully! :-)

What wonderful diversity of trees you have in your neighborhood. We've been having similarly wet weather in Maine. The leaves are good but not as good as other years. So nice to reconnect with you!
