Have You Heard?

Snowy Winter Weather is for the birds!

Big ones and little ones,

and all those in-between.

They're Winter's lovely flowers

(that season in-between)

So, feed these little flowers...

and water in-between...

You won't believe the joy you'll find

'Midst Winter's lovely scenes.

Happy Winter!

  2. They are the best part of winter! I love watching them visit the feeders...and, you've captured them beautifully for us! I love how they share the perch with one another! Gail

  3. I too love birds, but the truth is, I really put out seed for squirrels! I've always had trouble with bird bath heaters and another (new one!) just died. Is your bowl itself heated?

  4. Sweet! What a nice group of birds you have. We get some of those but also lots of English Sparrows and Mourning Doves to gobble up the food. Your close-ups are very nice.

  5. You must have some very tasty seed. I can't believe you attracted 2 different kinds of woodpeckers.

  7. Hortist, I believe you've visited before. Thank you. Enjoy these last days of 2009. :-)

Hi Gail! I can spend a lot of time with my camera, taking photos! I'm still liking the "falling snow" on the blog... does it make you feel as though you're looking out my window, too? ;-)

Monica, You and one of my neighbors feed the squirrels (and I appreciate it!). ha. They are so cute, but they don't like my bird feeder (check out Yankee Flipper!). My birdbath is warmed by an inexpensive aluminum foil disc that plugs into an outdoor electrical cord. (I've used it for 3 Winters, now!)

MMD, Actually we get Four different woodpeckers here. I just took photos of the Hairy Woodpecker and just missed the opportunity to take a photo of a Red Headed Woodpecker. It's amazing out here in the woods! :-)
(I use a mix of safflower and hulled sunflower seeds with a few other little goodies. Thistle seed feeders hang for the goldfinches.)

Catherine, Thank you Catherine! I'm having a LOT of fun with my "new" camera, also!

  8. Wonderful pictures! What kind of camera are you using? I haven't seen a cardinal in real life for some time, they are so very beautiful. :) Rebecca

  9. Hi Shady,
I had fun reading your different bird posts. It's cool seeing different kinds of birds eating next to each other. I want to get some suet. We've had some in the past. Once you start, do you need to keep putting suet out?

Happy New Year! We are also experiencing cold and snow.

Thank you for visiting today. I don't mean to make it hard for you to leave a message, but temporarily I am going to enable word verification. Too many spam messages to deal with lately. Thanks for your patience! SG
