ReplyDeleteI too love birds, but the truth is, I really put out seed for squirrels! I've always had trouble with bird bath heaters and another (new one!) just died. Is your bowl itself heated?
ReplyDeleteSweet! What a nice group of birds you have. We get some of those but also lots of English Sparrows and Mourning Doves to gobble up the food. Your close-ups are very nice.

ReplyDeleteHi Gail! I can spend a lot of time with my camera, taking photos! I'm still liking the "falling snow" on the blog... does it make you feel as though you're looking out my window, too? ;-)
Monica, You and one of my neighbors feed the squirrels (and I appreciate it!). ha. They are so cute, but they don't like my bird feeder (check out Yankee Flipper!). My birdbath is warmed by an inexpensive aluminum foil disc that plugs into an outdoor electrical cord. (I've used it for 3 Winters, now!)
MMD, Actually we get Four different woodpeckers here. I just took photos of the Hairy Woodpecker and just missed the opportunity to take a photo of a Red Headed Woodpecker. It's amazing out here in the woods! :-)
(I use a mix of safflower and hulled sunflower seeds with a few other little goodies. Thistle seed feeders hang for the goldfinches.)

ReplyDeleteI had fun reading your different bird posts. It's cool seeing different kinds of birds eating next to each other. I want to get some suet. We've had some in the past. Once you start, do you need to keep putting suet out?
