A
I've admired the people that have taken the challenge by "Mrs. Nesbitt" to create a post every Tuesday (Every Tuesday??) on the succession of the letters of the alphabet. So, I'm going to try this. We'll see how I do. Perhaps I won't be as dedicated as I hope to be... but we'll see. ;-)
Aster
This is Aster 'Alert'
Adorable?
This is Susan-Scare-the-birds.
She's been featured here a couple of times before.

Susan was employed shortly after we moved here, seven years ago.
She's been such a faithful garden friend...
proving herself to be as tender-hearted as she is "tough!"
:-)
This is Aster 'Alert'
The photo was taken in September 2008, just after the plant was put in the Raised Bed gardens. It's too shady here for its liking, as it didn't perform well last Fall. Guess I'll see if I can make it happier somewhere else this Spring... in my neighbor's yard?? :-)

Both of these photos were taken in August 2008.
You'll just have to visit the links
to understand why the costume change. lol.
Susan has held her post for quite some time. She's ready for retirement.
Artistry
Lately, some of my local gardening friends and I have begun work
on new "Scare-the-bird" gardening friends.
To say we're stretching our imaginations is an understatement! ha.
Watch for later posts... perhaps in mid-February.
That's the best I can do for today. My first ABC post. Visit Mrs. Nesbitt to see who else is participating. :-) Have a great weekend.
Astounding A's, Shady! I really got a kick out of those pantyhose people. Great stuff!
ReplyDeleteRosey
Hi Rosey! Using pantyhose is my usual "medium," however Susan's counterparts should probably have been created from tights, instead. (Durability factor). ;-)
ReplyDeleteEnough to say, 'A' you're adorable, Shady!
ReplyDeleteI think you did good with the "A's" Shady Gardener. Hopefully you'll find a nice sunny spot for the aster this spring. It would be crazy not to like your garden! You all are having too much fun making your scare crow people. :-)
ReplyDeleteGlad you joined in on the ABC fun! I've enjoyed doing this the past few rounds, but this time I may not join in every week, depending on time available. Susan is quite a garden friend--she looks so real from a distance! I love those panty-hose creations you make; they really are amazing. Great ABC finds!
ReplyDeleteGreat A's Shady ...and Susan is growing on me :)
ReplyDeleteJoey, Thanks... you are, too! :-)
ReplyDeleteKathleen, thanks for visiting today. You're right... I pick the unusual, don't I? (And involve my friends!) ha.
Rose, Actually, YOU are the one that inspired me... so I hope I see you posting! ;-)
Liz, Keep it up! You may want one, yet. lol.
I love all of your A's. The color of the Aster is so pretty, I like it's little visitor.
ReplyDeleteHi Catherine, Thanks. I thought this might be a fun meme. Can you help but take photos of the insect visitors? :-)
ReplyDeleteLovely.
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining in. You must have posted after I checked, because you're supposed to get a nice welcome from the ABC Wednesday team, but didn't note until now. Come back again.
Ramblin' with Roger
Hi Roger, Thanks for visiting. Guess I'd better head over there now to advertise today's post! :-)
