Blossoms at Shady's?
I keep forgetting to ask Joan the name of this begonia!
We purchased them at the same time... and she's the one
that remembers the name.

The kalanchoe is so healthy-looking... and it's decided to bloom again.
My Christmas Cacti are getting buds again. (The dark pink one is always first.)
The "Snow birds" of Iowa.
(These are the ones that stay here!)

The bird blossoms are as wonderful as the indoor flowers, Shady. We'll get through winter eventually.

I love that flowers can be enjoyed year-round because of those beautiful plants that can be grown indoors :-) Your birds are so sweet... We have snowbirds (the human kind) here right now...

ReplyDeleteYour indoor blooms are so cheery. But this time of year I enjoy the snowbirds just as much as any indoor blooms. Nothing like a bright red cardinal to perk up the garden!

Hi Noelle, You're probably seeing a lot of "Iowa Snowbirds" these days! ha. I did think about doing more with that "pun," but decided against it. Thanks for picking up on it!! ha.
Rosemary, It is. I'm wondering about those (crazy) amaryllis bulbs that didn't perform last year. I set them out again this summer and we're going to try again. If they don't perform this year... out to the compost pile they go!!

Darla, I'm really not sure about the begonia. That sounds like a great guess to me! :-) The sparrows are House Sparrows. The one on the right with the black face is the male. The other two are the females. I must have a good window for these cactus plants. They seem to do very well.
Thank you, Jim. You have to know that the light is the most important factor in growing indoor plants. I've had terrible luck in some homes and better luck in others. Our present home has great E,S,and West exposure! :-)

ReplyDeleteI think I've heard it said that birds are the flowers of winter ~ I absolutely believe it. You always have the best luck with cactus and your begonia is sure pretty too. Happy belated bloom day!

ReplyDeleteSo wonderful to see the birds coexist without a fight. Our cardinals are not so polite, thinking they own everything, even against each other. That is a wonderful begonia, and the cactus reblooming is a bonus. :-)

LOL, you have friends who remember the names of your plants. The Begonia is going gangbusters it looks like, and I'm so jealous that your Kalanchoe is reblooming. Mine is mad at me because I need to add more soil to the pot. I love the puffed up Cardinal.
ReplyDeleteHi Frances, Sometimes our cardinals get a little "cross-wise," but usually they do very well. It's those Blue Jays that think they own the place! ;-)
