Floriferous Friday

I'll be a little quiet for the next couple of days or so... there's a post scheduled to appear Monday.
Have a wonderful weekend!

I've been watching these hyacinth bulbs Very Closely! :-)
Can you tell that Bulb #1 is beginning to bloom?

Now - a few other items worth the mention...

Speaking of "floriferous!" (Did I mention, Messy?)

Can you find the three new "branches" on this orchid?

Loaded Kalanchoe

Want to take one more look at the hyacinth?
Mr. Shady's instructions? (Something I thought I'd never say. ha.)
"Don't go too near the kitchen sink!"
As well as being floriferous, the hyacinths are "odiferous!" (Something that makes Mr. Shady sneeze!) ha.

Happy Valentine's Day, early! Enjoy your weekend. :-)This little vase was purchased in Stillwater, MN - a "Sisters' Weekend" a few years ago. :-)

  1. Lovely photos again Shady! Your house plants are all beautiful, they really cheer the Winter days. The Hyacinths are coming on so well and I swear I must have 'smellyputer' as the moment I scrolled down I could smell the lovely scent!

Oh goodness! It looks a bit chilly in your garden, our recent sprinkling didn't last long and although there was more forecast for today it didn't materialize.

Have a lovely (warm) weekend :)

  2. Shady love all the flowers , how nice to have something flowering in the mid of winter. Hyacinths are a fav especially when the scent perfumes the whole house.....

  3. Hello again, Shysongbird! Thank you for visiting so soon. We are still in the thick of Winter, here. I don't expect much warming until sometime in March, but April often gives us a surprise snowfall (doesn't last long). ;-) May is usually a safe time to be planting outdoors, although I've been known to plant at the end of April.

Hi Rosemary, It is wonderful to have a few blossoms at this time of year. The hyacinths offer the double-treat of good looks and great scent! :-)

  5. The hyacinths are beautiful Shady Gardener ~ my favorite color too!!! I really do like the marbles in your vases. Very attractive. You definitely have a green, green, green thumb. All your plants do so well and I'm insanely jealous about the 3 new bloom stalks on your orchid. That is going to be fantastic when it blooms. Be sure and post lots of pictures! Have a great weekend as well and Happy Heart day to you!!

  10. With all my plants in the house over the winter, I don't find room for bulbs, but enjoy seeing what others have. Wow, once they start budding, the blooms come quickly! They sure are pretty!

I hope you are having a great weekend! I haven't been blogging much, either, and have lots of moving to do yet before the remodel. I am so excited!

  11. I have the same problem with hyacinths as Mr.Shady has. Lovely to look at, and an encouraging sign of spring.
