("ain't no flies on me!" My orchid does have a pretty face)
(this photo taken earlier in the year)
Tuesday's child is full of grace,
(tiny katydid nymph on 'Summer Wine' Hemerocallis)
Wednesday's child is full of woe,
(a beetle on Pussytoes - Antennaria neodioica)
Thursday's child has far to go,
(Black Swallowtail caterpillar on parsley)
Friday's child is loving and giving,
(one of life's pleasures! a Question Mark anglewing butterfly)
Saturday's child works hard for a living,
(Click on the photo to see the honey bees on Matrona sedum. How many can you find??)
But the child born on the Sabbath day
Is fair and wise and good and happy.
(even if there Are little pesty ants!)
No question mark about it, I love that anglewing butterfly!
ReplyDeleteThis is a fun way to start the week.
ReplyDeleteI loved the Beatles lyrics you left on my blog. Cute!
Nice photos...well done, Shady!
Nice post, great pics.
ReplyDeleteThe question mark butterfly is wonderful! I can't wait for spring...It must be incredibly cold in Iowa~it's 23 degrees here! gail btw a very clever post.
ReplyDeleteHi Monica, Hope you enjoyed your weekend. What interesting things are you doing this week? :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Rosey, Thanks for your nice comments. Have a great week!
Rosemary, Thanks for visiting.
Gail, I don't really know what the temp is right now. It did snow a bit... there are warnings about travel today. But for right now, it appears (in my yard) to be okay. I have to go out soon, so I'm hoping the roads have been cleared.
Hi SG~~ Nice photos and prose. Do you think we'll ever see flowers again? Even though my ground is snowless, it's basically foggy and dreary. Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful interpretation of such lovely words. Great post! :)
ReplyDeleteWow. Luv it.... Happy 'any day' to you, too. These pics were great. So was the writing, AND cool butterfly.
ReplyDeleteWell, this Friday's Child loves the wings of the Anglewing Butterfly. Although all your plants are beautiful :^)
ReplyDeleteWhat a creative person you are ~ I loved the choice of flowers to accompany the words. Beautiful work. Hope you are doing well ~ no doubt you are as eager for spring to arrive as I am!
ReplyDeleteLove that Question Mark butterfly!
ReplyDeleteHi Grace, Oh, sure. We'll see flowers again. (You before me!) But that's okay. ;-) I'm fairly patient. ha.
ReplyDeleteBobbie, I've been over to see your snow. It's incredible, isn't it? Hope you're staying well and warm. :-)
Hi Rebecca, Thanks! :-)
Hi Kate. Nice to have you visit again!
Hi Noelle, I think I'm a Friday child, too. however, I'd better ask my mom. :-)
Hi Kate! How are you these days? I've missed your blogging, but I completely understand how easy it is to spend a little too much time on the computer!
Sweet bay - I do, too. It's a beautiful butterfly. :-)
Love your pictures! I have one correction.. the monarch caterpillar is really a black swallowtail caterpillar. Monarch's feed exclusively on the Asclepias (milkweed family)while the swallowtails like the parsley, fennel and dill family... I plant them specifically for the caterpillars. My neighbor thought I was nuts.

Lovely post Shady and some great photos. There were so many honey bees on that sedum that I became mesmerised and forgot to count them!
ReplyDeleteI was born on a Saturday.....! :)
Hi SG, thanks for this beautiful post, tried to count the bees but gave up - too tired. Cheers, catmint
ReplyDeleteHi Ashley, You are Absolutely Correct!! And I know that very well! My only excuse... up way too late at night. I have now made the correction. Thank you! :-) (You're not nuts. I do the same thing!)
ReplyDeleteHi Liz and catmint, To tell the truth, I really don't know how many bees are on the that plant! (I was counting on YOU!) ha. ;-)
Enjoyed this clever post, Shady! I can't wait to see the bees and butterflies in my garden once again. I'd even be happy to see a beetle...as long as it's not a Japanese beetle, that is:)
ReplyDeleteHi Rose! You're right on that one! :-) Thanks for your visit!
ReplyDeleteLove the catterpillar and butterfly, aside to those beautiful blooms that is.
ReplyDeleteFun post! I'm a Swallowtail caterpillar! LOL.
ReplyDeleteHi Blossom, I'd expect you to be partial to blossoms... ;-) It's fun to catch the insect world in action, too.
ReplyDeleteHi Kylee... did you catch my "Monarch" gaffe? lol
No, I missed that! It's all good now! :-)
