Photo Friday

Several years ago, I purchased this hand-thrown,
hand-made pottery bird feeder.

I put it out on Monday, Feb. 22 -
the only customers have been the Black-capped Chickadee.

'bye!

  3. The other birds are probably scared of breaking it and having you scold them :-)
Unusual material for a birdfeeder, but very attractive.

    Mosaic version coming up?

  4. Hi Shady - what a great little feeder!
I've been catching up on your posts - I loved the tour of your friends and families gardens - they're all so different, but all so pretty!

  6. I've never seen a feeder like this ~ very cool. I love the last photo. I agree that you are getting some great bird shots this winter! Keep it up. Have a great weekend too. :-)

  7. Shady, great capture of the little chickadee with the seed in his mouth. They came to our suet feeder and sort of took over following the dark-eyed Juncos. Have a wonderful weekend. Hope it's filled with sunshine.

  8. I saw a pair of little birds hopping around my patio. I thought, please build a nest here, do you see the new bird bath right next to the patio? Your babies would be so fun to watch out my window . . . but I don't think they decided to set up house here. Too bad. I really should get a bird feeder like yours to entice them to stay longer!

  9. Hi Rebecca, I'm glad chickadees are enjoying the feeder, as I like it too! :-)

Thank you, Gail. I've misplaced the instruction book (yipes!) so I haven't explored the manual settings yet.

Hi Jo! No chance of breaking this feeder. :-) It just takes a special bird that doesn't mind being inside a confined space. I do have a birdhouse outdoors that I intend to mosaic. I need to bring it indoors, don't I?

Hi Liz, My real-life friends are as varied as my blogging friends and their gardens! :-) Makes it fun.

Rosemary, the feeder's not too large - so they'll have to get in line! ;-)

Hi Kathleen, I was very excited to get that last photo! :-)

Di, chickadees are fun to watch. They are so QUICK! Thanks for your visit. :-)

VW, Your thoughts echo mine... :-) Perhaps there'd be something on etsy?

  11. Great photo. I imagine the smaller birds like that feeder since they can eat without being bothered by the bigger ones.

  13. Hi Noelle, It is a cute little feeder. And the little chickadees are so cute, too. :-)

Chad and Brandi, I think you're absolutely right!

Randy, You're right, but there are a couple of other feeders much more handy for the other birds. For sure I'll be watching to see if the chickadees share this feeder. :-)

  15. Chickadees are my favorite bird. No, I don't really have A favorite but darn I sure think they're cute. The feeder looks cozy. I see Cameron left a comment. I'll click here to see her Giverney post. Stay warm.

  16. What an unusual and attractive feeder, that's a lot of snow on the top though, I'm sure the birds are grateful for the food you put out in such weather.

I have been catching up again and thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the colourful gardens on previous posts, I could almost feel the warm sunshine on my face :) I also loved seeing how your house plants are progressing, the pink Christmas Cactus is a beauty.

  17. Hi Cameron, Thanks!

Grace, I agree. I don't have a favorite bird, but the chickadees are right up there at the top of the list... (with almost all the others!) ha. Having Cameron's post just before yours was "serendipitous!" :-) Have a great weekend.

Shy Songbird, You are always so sweet with your comments. With regard to the warm sunshine, I understand your meaning. It's cold outdoors right now! ha! Have you ever tried a Christmas cactus? They're very easy to grow, I think. :-)

  18. It doesn't look like there's so much room for bigger birds to fit in there... but chickadees are cute customers! :)

  19. Hi Monica, that's the beauty of this little feeder! Larger birds cannot fit... thus, the little fellows have a place all their own. :-) How are you??

  21. Hi Karen, Isn't it cute? One could make a feeder with bowls purchased at the store, I think.
