So, here we are on letter S. Head over the Mrs. Nesbitt's site to see what she's posted and click on that same logo (the ABC Wednesday, Round 6) to see who else is posting.
"Where you see smoke, there's fire."
Haven't you heard that before?
It's not always true.
In the case of Geum triflorum Prairie Smoke,
we find an exception.
we find an exception.
S? Absolutely! Sensational! Fond Sentiments to my Aunt MEA who gave me a piece of this native wildflower. Someone gave her a piece years and years ago, from the prairie!
Have a wonderful day.
It's mostly shady over here, but the front yard receives enough sunlight to grow this!! :-)

ReplyDeleteI totally fell fort these beauties at Chicago Spring Fling~ordered 5 and have 2 barely surviving~They prefer the prairie (and your garden where they look wonderful) to limestone and mud! gail
ReplyDeleteVery cool plant! And a great choice for "S" :)

So beautiful and interesting! They remind me of clematis seed heads. Great idea for an 'S' post! :)

ReplyDeleteSeeing the photos of this geum makes me want it! I have been so tempted, but not sure it would like my zone/conditions here.
Sensational, Shady!
ReplyDeleteHi Shady, what a cute plant! (Reminds me of my hair after walking through the wind) :-)
ReplyDeleteI love prairie smoke! I took about 15 photos of mine and couldn't get the macro to focus on the smoke.
ReplyDeleteHi Sylvia, Thank you for your visit. I'm having a great week! Don't they speed by?
ReplyDeleteHi Rosemary, I hope you can find it. If not, perhaps I could try to harvest some seeds for you??
Gail, Could it be the weather you're having, too? I'm sorry these aren't working for you... perhaps I could save YOU some seeds!! I need to show you photos of my Tennessee Cone Flowers - thanks to your seeds! :-)
Hood Photo - Thank you. and Thanks for your visit. :-)
Hi Rebecca ITG, They also remind me somewhat of pasque seed heads... fun!
Rinkly Rimes, Thanks for your visit. I love your name! :-)
I'm glad you could stop (and thanks for leaving a comment) by, Photowannabe!
Thanks, Roger. :-)
Tumblewords, Wouldn't you have loved to see the prairie at the time these would have been thriving? What a wonderful sight!
Manang Kim, Thank you for visiting, again. :-)
Sweet bay, I hope you are able to have the chance to try them. This is not a tall plant (at least, not here). I'd say 15 - 20" or so.
Hi Cameron, I've not done the research as to where it would grow... I hope you're able to try.
Hi Joey! Scintillating doesn't do it, right? ;-)
Hi Garden Ms. S - Or like my hair practically all the time? ha!
Hi Monica, I don't know why that happens sometimes. Please try again!! I'd like to compare.
I saw my first Prairie Smoke last year at Spring Fling and immediately fell in love with it. I'm still waiting to find one for my garden, though. It's such a beautiful wildflower with its wispy blooms. How neat that yours originally came from the prairie!
ReplyDeleteHi Rose, I'm going to watch these carefully to see if I can harvest some seeds. If I do, would you like me to send you a few?
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat flower, I love it!
ReplyDeleteCatherine, You would love it in real life, too! ;-)
