Morning Has Broken
Morning has broken like the first morning;
blackbird has spoken like the first bird.
Praise for the singing!
Praise for the morning!
Praise for them, springing fresh from the Word!
Sweet the rain's new fall sunlit from heaven,
like the first dewfall on the first grass.
Praise for the sweetness
of the wet garden,
sprung in completeness where his feet pass.
Mine is the sunlight! Mine is the morning
born of the one light Eden saw play!
Praise with elation,
praise every morning,
God's re-creation of the new day.

Mr Shady and I were out listening for turkeys around 5:15 - 6:15 A.M. last Sunday morning. The photo was taken on our way out of the woods. It was a gorgeous day! Something for which to be thankful! :-)
I remember having to sing that song for our school choir w-a-y back when!! Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
ReplyDeleteHi Barb, You're welcome. :-) Thanks for visiting and leaving your comment.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favourite songs and the photo fits perfectly.
ReplyDeleteWhat a glorious way to begin the day! And I do love the song -- one of my favorites, too! Wonderful post for the M Day!! Have a wonderful tomorrow!!

lovely song, which I always associate w Cat Stevens.
ReplyDeleteROG, ABC Wednesday team
What do you mean "listening for turkeys?" Do they make a pretty sound??
ReplyDeleteLovely song/lyrics. It is interesting to think that God does re-create each new day. It puts everything in a different light!
ReplyDeleteWe listen for owls.... they are my favorite.
Rinkly Rhymes, Thank you for your visit and kind comment.
ReplyDeleteHi Sylvia, Thanks. It was a beautiful day!
Roger, We used to enjoy listening to Cat Stevens.
Hi Ali, Turkeys sleep in trees and as the sun begins to lighten the sky in the early morning, they swoop down to the ground and begin (in Spring) to gobble, looking for a mate. ;-) It's really fun to sit against a tree (with Mr. Shady and in his camouflage clothes), waiting to see what happens! Not a pretty sound - just a Gobblobblobbl. ha.
Hi Rosey, We have a "resident" Barred Owl here in our woods that hoots around 2 or 3 o'clock in the a.m. I love it! :-)
to Chubskulit & Ms.Burrito, thanks for your visits. I'll be over!
You sure have have lots of critters for entertainment.
ReplyDeleteLove mornings...so peaceful.
Shady to answer your question about making pictures larger well
I did a post. Come by.
Goodness me but you're an early bird Shady! I love early mornings too ....but not quite THAT early! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Patsi! I'll be over! :-)
ReplyDeleteHi, Liz. This was an extraordinary opportunity. YOU would do it, too!!
Shady,
ReplyDeleteBefore uploading try this.
I use 'paint' for resizing my picture files. This is where I make them smaller to fit.
Then up load and do the rest.
So much to understand with these computers...I have a hate/love relationship with them.
Where do you find the word "paint," Patsi? I use Microsoft Word Picture Managaer and have the choice of 4 sizes into which I can compress my photos: e-mail, web pages, documents or original size. Does any of this make sense?
ReplyDeleteA lovely, tranquil post, Shady. It took me back to school assemblies where we used to sing that and also to Sunday school.
ReplyDeleteWe don't have wild Turkeys here, it must be fun to watch them.
I also loved your 'Lingering L' post with all your pretty and colourful blooms. Your Checkered Lily looks so much like our wild Fritillary, it also reminds me of one of those Liberty lamps...hey! more Ls :)
Sorry I hadn't answered your previous comment when you came over earlier. I have answered them both now!
Hi Shy, I've enjoyed your comments! The Checkered Lily is a fritillary - perhaps it is imported from your area? I have white ones and some brown and yellow ones as well. Because of the cool, rainy weather we're receiving right now, I'm probably missing photo opportunities!
ReplyDeleteI'll be over. :-)
