Green Thumb Sunday
Thought you'd like to see some photos of my mom's garden.
She has a green thumb!
And by the time I finished the digging, straightening, removing the grass (with the help of my sister and sister-in-law), trenching and mulching - MY thumb was red! ha!!

We tamped it down to compact it.
When grass tries to grow into the garden, all Mom has to do is to pull it out!
Don't let this photo fool you - it wasn't as hard as it looks!
Mom deserved the help, and look at the neighbor's tree!
All of that hard work sure paid off, your mom's garden does look like a framed picture, very nice!
ReplyDeleteHi Sherri, Thanks! Happy Sunday!
ReplyDeleteShady, well done! and I'm certain that your mother is quite pleased. Blessings to you this Sunday.
ReplyDeleteEverything looks so nice , love all the bright sunshine... like the idea of mulching around the edge... Happy Sunday to you.
ReplyDeleteThat looks gorgeous! It looks like summer is just around the corner in Iowa.
ReplyDeleteHow awesome of you to set up the edging for your mom's garden. That trench will really help. We've done something similar in our front garden along the lawn and bed by the driveway. Beautiful tree with a beautiful lady.
ReplyDeleteNice job Shady !!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you all had fun even the neighbors.
Love the trellises and accents.
That's one pretty flower bed.
Wonderful project for a lovely garden! Sounds like you had fun, too.
ReplyDeleteHi Diana, Thanks! :-)
ReplyDeleteRosemary, I've not done it anywhere in MY yard, yet. But I'd read about it and wanted to try... something to put on the "to do" list! :-)
KarenandJeff, You're right, however planting those fields seems to be a little behind. Hopefully the season allows people to be able to catch up!
Gardener - So, how did it work for you??
Hi Patsi, I agree. The flower bed is really pretty. Mom has quite a nice variety of plants. :-)
Hi Cameron. YOU know how it is - it's always fun to be able to work in the garden! :-)
My goodness! You did work hard with excellent results.
ReplyDeleteAll my American friends have such large gardens!!
The neighbour's tree blossom is beautiful!
Jan :)
Hi Shy/Jan! :-) Thanks! My mom's large garden holds rhubarb and asparagus, as well as flowers. Berries, tomatoes, etc. are in the little garden bed.
ReplyDeleteVery tidy and enjoyable to look at. Her grass is pretty well kept too.
ReplyDeleteSo kind of you to help her with her gardening. I like the mulched trench.
Rosey, I'm hoping the mulched trench is a good idea. If it works as well as I hope, I'm going to do it in my yard, too! ;-)
ReplyDeleteThe garden looks great, Shady. And all that sunny weather. Love it.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great Shady ...and the offer to bring the family team over here to do my garden still stands!!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Grace! :-) How's YOUR weather these days? I'm really ready to spend some time in MY yard!!
ReplyDeleteHi Liz - Wouldn't we have fun??
Oh, that looks like such a great idea!! I am looking for a technique like that, thank you for sharing it!
ReplyDeleteHi Sissy, I hope you're able to try it. :-) Thanks for your visit!
