Smile - It's Sunday!

Green Thumb Sunday

Thought you'd like to see some photos of my mom's garden.
She has a green thumb!

And by the time I finished the digging, straightening, removing the grass (with the help of my sister and sister-in-law), trenching and mulching - MY thumb was red! ha!!

Looks like a picture frame, doesn't it?

I created a 6" trench (deep and wide) all around the garden and filled it with mulch.

We tamped it down to compact it.
When grass tries to grow into the garden, all Mom has to do is to pull it out!
Don't let this photo fool you - it wasn't as hard as it looks!

Ta-dah!

Mom deserved the help, and look at the neighbor's tree!

However, I didn't have time to tackle the little garden on the left...
Perhaps another family member will work on it?
Or I'll finish the job this Fall!

Nothing shady here! :-)
Happy Sunday day!

  5. How awesome of you to set up the edging for your mom's garden. That trench will really help. We've done something similar in our front garden along the lawn and bed by the driveway. Beautiful tree with a beautiful lady.

  8. Hi Diana, Thanks! :-)

Rosemary, I've not done it anywhere in MY yard, yet. But I'd read about it and wanted to try... something to put on the "to do" list! :-)

KarenandJeff, You're right, however planting those fields seems to be a little behind. Hopefully the season allows people to be able to catch up!

Gardener - So, how did it work for you??

Hi Patsi, I agree. The flower bed is really pretty. Mom has quite a nice variety of plants. :-)

Hi Cameron. YOU know how it is - it's always fun to be able to work in the garden! :-)

So kind of you to help her with her gardening. I like the mulched trench.

  12. Rosey, I'm hoping the mulched trench is a good idea. If it works as well as I hope, I'm going to do it in my yard, too! ;-)
