I went on a Tea Party/Garden Lover bus tour with friends today!
While I was gone, just LOOK at what Mr. Shady did for me!!
(SW corner of the house)
Look closely at the front left support above. Do you see a hose that heads up to the side of the house?
Now, look at the photo below....
see where that hose ends up?
So- when the barrel is empty, I have easy access to the pay-for water.
The water barrel below (SE corner of the house) was created last year... in the background,
you can see the water barrel highlighted above!
One more new water barrel below... this is the NE side of the house -
right by the lily bed.
Let it rain, Let it rain, Please let it rain!
:-)
How thrilling! I have been wanting those for 2 years now...hinting doesn't seem to be working. I love that you have it fixed to easily go to pay water. I'm jealous, please don't be mad, hahaha! Really, you have it all figured out, great job!
ReplyDeleteMr. Shady is awesome :) Now, let it rain, rain, rain!
ReplyDeleteThis is really impressive. Himself promised me a better water barrel system about 4 years ago now ...can't think why I'm still waiting?!!!
ReplyDeleteWe've finally had a couple of days of heavy rain - but it's only soaked down a couple of inches into the soil.
Hope you get some rain soon Shady!
Great job here!
ReplyDeleteWishing rain for you to fill your barrels!
ReplyDeleteWe got a bit of rain this morning. And, cooler temps today! Yay!
Kudos to Mr. Shady! Think of all the money you'll be saving on that pay-for water!
ReplyDeleteThat is really wonderful! Mr Shady is very innovative, thinking up and putting together those set-ups.
ReplyDeleteIt will be great for you to get 'free' water for the gardens!
Very interesting. We're on the verge of drought conditions here in Fillmore County. And after all that rain last spring. The soybean farmers are starting to look concerned.
ReplyDeleteShady,
ReplyDeleteI missed this post, Yeah! I'm doing a rain dance for you right now! We have collected 350 gallons in the past two weeks, still dry as can be here.
What a nice surprise. Won't mine having one in the yard for the summers that are dry.
ReplyDeleteHoping rain comes your way.
Also what about that garden tour hope you share.
I envy you for Mr Shady, i hope we have Mr Shadies here too. That is a very smart way to do, even simpler than what Randy did in his tote tank. Maybe i should ask him what glue to use in attaching the faucet to the plastic drum! We badly need that too, but is it fully sealed, because we have problems here with mosquitoes bringing scary dengue. thank you.
ReplyDeleteI have wanted to water harvest for so log! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteI like how you have your rain barrels raised so you can use the hose. The one I have in the back has a short hose that I use to water the herb garden. The one in front doesn't have enough pressure to come out of the hose very well, so I end up putting it in watering cans, which is more time consuming.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you finally got some rain for them to catch!
