This is what part of this new bed looked like on March 24, 2012.  Last Fall, I'd put part of a load of dirt down here and laid some old rotted logs behind it to keep it from washing away.

This is a view from the side, looking towards the logs.  The homemade birdbath
(it was there when we moved here 9 1/2 years ago) will be moved.
I moved the little spirea (   ) March 24, 2012.

This photo was taken April 12, 2012.
"Mr. Shady" was given some old utility poles -which he cut for me.

I think they make a great "back border and preventer-of-dirt-washing-away!"

This is still April 12.

The photos below were taken April 26.
Not a whole lot of changes, but things are "rolling along."

Below: A close-up peek at a hydrangea that was given to our family
after Dad died last Spring.

Below are the most recent photos of the back of the "Backyard Center Bed" ;-)
that I've been working on.

There's going to be a somewhat grassy strip between the two beds.

Hopefully you'll notice more changes before long.
Nothing "shady" about gardening in the shade.

It's a Beautiful Day, But I Miss My Blog!

It's Spring.
It FEELS like Spring.
The weather has been "Spring-y"
due to the cooler temps

It's a Beautiful, Sunny Day!

Not your regular Jack-in-the-Pulpit!!

Arisaema sikokianum
is considered the most stunningly beautiful member of the genus Arisaema.
You'll need more than one to start a "family."
After flowering, the foliage remains attractive until it goes dormant in late summer.
Arisaema sikokianum prefers a well-drained dry site in the garden.
Japanese in origin.
This plant was given me on July 18, 2008 by "Iowa Boy."
Located in Iowa City, this Consummate gardener and former blogger
is truly missed in the "blogging scene."

At any rate, this is the first appearance I've ever had of this plant since it was given to me!!!

Stunning, to say the least!!!

Happy Spring!

Nothing Shady here - yet. ;-)
The leaves are now sprouting on the oak trees, though.
