Whether or Not We Liked Yesterday Morning's Weather . . .

. . . it truly was beautiful!!
Front yard

It was also intense at times!

Back yard

Little snow pellets (not sleet)

I had been derelict in filling the feeders Sunday...
so I hurried out Monday (with my camera in my pocket)!

Listen carefully.  Can you hear the snow falling??

Monday afternoon turned out to be sunny and beautiful.  I can walk on a crust of snow, now, though!  :-)

I think your snow pellets are called graupel. I think of them as little aerated hail stones and they are one of my favorite winter-time phenomena.

Thank you, Emily! I appreciate that you have taught me something today! I guess we are 't getting sound on my little video, but the grapple was so plentiful, it was "noisy!" :-)
Thanks for your visit and comment!

We caught it big time a couple of days ago. It truly was magic but not the loss of power and broken branches everywhere. I regretted not having a Franklin stove like we did in our old house...

Beautiful photos, Shady! I don't get tired of seeing photos like this, but I am getting a little tired seeing similar scenes outside my own window:) Graupel...that's a new term to me, too!

Oh, boy! Troutbirder, I betcha I was in northern Iowa (north of Clear Lake) when you got your recent snowfall! We received 8 to 10" up there! I hope you didn't suffer frozen pipes, etc. I understand your concern and wish for a wood-burning stove!!

Hi Rose! I understand! It is reallky pretty outdoors today... with the blue sunshine and white snow... "bare" trees, etc. I'm going to see if I can hang on to the term "graupel." :-)
