There is something blooming in my house.
It sneaked in through the night.
It's definitely quieter than a mouse,
But doesn't cause a fright!
Just a Surprised Shock! ;-)
I didn't realize the buds were ready.
Enter, my non-hardy Hibiscus.
(If you click on the photo, you can see pretty good detail,
considering I was holding the camera in my hand and trying not to breathe!)

What a pretty surprise. I love the color of it. Isn't it funny trying to get some of these pictures. No breathing for fear of jiggling the camera somehow. It turned out very nice.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun surprise.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous flower. And a great shot!!
ReplyDeleteShady, It's a really lovely color and a very nice closeup! You know I still blame my cat for my lack of houseplants! gail
ReplyDeleteOoooooh! Just what we need, when spring seems so far away. Upon enlargement of the photo, I felt I had been on a journey to tropical climes, filled with lush, exotic blooms... I thoroughly enjoyed my sojourn within that glorious trumpet.
ReplyDeleteBTW, love the new trail system slide show! /Deb
Beautiful bloom. Such a treat to have some color this time of year.
ReplyDeleteHow very beautiful! And what a nice surprise! That first bloom is always such a thrill.
ReplyDeleteCatherine, Lisa, Flydragon - This blossom was a nice surprise. I jiggle the camera easily... esp. when the light is low and the shutter speed is slow! Thanks for visiting! :-)
ReplyDeleteGail, your cat knows who's "boss!" ;-)
Deb, it won't be long and the trail will completely circle town. I'm looking forward to it!
The slides show 2 miles of the trail. The finished trail right now is a bit over 12 miles. I don't know what the total mileage will be. Here's the map: http://www.jeffersoncountytrails.org/trails.htm
Chad and Brandi and Bobbie, I agree. This is the blossom to pick up our spirits during these late winter months! :-)
What a beautiful flower, and the color...lovely. Grace
ReplyDeleteHi Grace, Have you ever had one of these plants? There are many varieties. I set it out in the Summertime (in part sun/part shade). I love the Wintertime rewards! :-)
ReplyDeleteYea for a bloom! Surprise blooms are always the best, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteIt's time to get a tripod! (I have one, but I just can't find it.) That is one Wow bloom. And that's a great shot of it.
ReplyDeleteYeah, lets hear it for colour! Much as I love my snow, I have started to crave a bit of colour and you've certainly done the job with this gorgeous beauty! Thanks for sharing it with us.
ReplyDeleteHi Jodi, You're right! The surprises are the whipped cream on a cup of hot chai! ;-)
ReplyDeleteMMD, I know... we have one, too. Somewhere! ;-)
Nutty Gnome, I'm Glad to share it! It was worth sharing!! :-)
What a lovely soft shade of pink. Shocks of that sort are most welcome :)
ReplyDeleteThat's the best kind of surprise Shady Gardener. It's beautiful ~ like a shot of summer. and good job holding the camera still.
ReplyDeleteAnna, I'm with you! I like this kind of shock! ;-)
ReplyDeleteKathleen, Thanks! Quite honestly, I could take some photo tips from you! :-)
