Valentines

Valentines

I gave a hundred Valentines.
a hundred, did I say?
I gave a thousand Valentines
one cold and wintry day.

I didn't put my name on them
or any other words,
because my Valentines were seeds
for February birds.

by Aileen Fisher

Looking forward to a Happy Valentine's Day?
:-)

  2. That's a sweet poem:)

Did you just get all that (horrible) snow? It looks like winter;) It's only 35 days 'til spring!

Sorry-don't mean to rub it in!!

  3. Hello Patsi and Jan, No this was from an earlier snowfall. :-) We don't have a bit of snow (well, maybe a little tiny bit here and there) right now. But then, there's the forecast for today...

  7. Hello Shady. I loved the poem and the concept - and I think the chances of Himself remembering it's Valentines Day tomorrow are pretty slim now that First-Born isn't here to remind him(!), so I reckon the birds will get their valentines seeds instead!!!

  10. Pat, Then you can assume I'm happy that the cats are in your yard! lol ;-)

Nutty Gnome, You and I together will most likely just be feeding birds! ;-) That's okay.

Hi Gail!! :-) Thanks! Happy Valentine's Day to you, to!

Monica, I'd rather someone remember my birthday... but I, too, send cards to special people. Just to tell them I "heart" them! :-)

  14. Oh how wonderful! Valentine's for the birds. I am doing the big backyard bird count today and have spread the seed far and wide in hopes of a good count. Do join in!

  15. Lisa, Happy Day! :-)

Kathleen, I'm going to visit some friends today (and tomorrow!) that I rarely get to see.

troutbirder, Oh! My feeder needs to be filled this morning... think I'll throw seed on our new-fallen snow! :-)

Frances, good for you!!! I will wait to participate until next year. I was very conscientious about participating in Project Feederwatch last year. I rejoined this year, and continue to feed the birds, but have not not done my tally-work faithfully.

Thank you for visiting today. I don't mean to make it hard for you to leave a message, but temporarily I am going to enable word verification. Too many spam messages to deal with lately. Thanks for your patience! SG
