These are flowers???
Are you sure it wasn't that I caught them off guard?
Scared them?
Surprised them?
Startled them?
Or perhaps it was the camera?
Glinty lens?
Glaring light?
or is this a
Guilty look?
Drumstick Allium,
Allium sphaerocephalon,
Allium 'Hair'
These are really very small...
just a giant-sized close-up!

Not shady,
just humerous! :-)
Very funny and a weird bloom.
ReplyDeleteAllium is a cool genus. I saw some that curved stems yesterday! :)
ReplyDeleteI've seen these in my garden! Strange aren't they! gail
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa, They're diminutive as compared to the alliums I'm most familiar with. Perhaps they'll be "sturdier" next year?
ReplyDeleteMonica, These little fellows made me laugh out loud! :-)
Gail, Have yours remained "easy to miss?" Or do they get stronger/larger with age?
These would be great in a Dr. Seuss garden. Very fun.
ReplyDeleteFun post ,made me smile
ReplyDeleteBad hair day allium..lol. I actually came across these weeding and out they came..let us know what they look like matured.
ReplyDeleteLynn
MMD, I thought that very same thing! :-) Perhaps one of the Alphabet Tags should include Dr. Seuss??
ReplyDeleteHi Rosemary! A smile makes for a happy heart! (Did I make that up?) :-)
Lynn, I'm sorry to tell you that that's "it." These are little bulbs that I ordered last Summer to plant last Fall. (Like you, I'm hoping they grow sturdier next year!) ;-)
I planted some drumstick alliums last fall, and they are getting to be around 2 to 2 1/2 feet tall, and each have a few buds on them. They look like they should open in a few days, but you never know. I've checked on my lilies about 5 times today. They are getting more and more color, but haven't opened yet. Your allium is interesting.
ReplyDeleteHi Sue, Drumstick Alliums are great! You will enjoy them!! I thought these "Hair" alliums were quite odd - and interesting! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI have never seen anything quite like it...stange and funny all at the same time! Kim
