Now This is 'Gilt Edge'
You saw 'Taipei Silk' in a sunny pose in that other post.
Here's another view of this pretty Toad Lily.
You also saw 'Shining Light' as she was preparing to blossom.
I've caught her blossom just peeking out a bit.
This is my poor 'Lightning Strikes.'
Actually, I'm quite content that there's any of it at all.
This Spring there was Nothing where it used to be, and finally this little piece began to grow.

You'd better believe I'm going to coddle that little fellow this Fall - in preparation for Winter. We'll hope to see him again next Spring! :-)
Waiting for Tricyrtis Hirta, Variegata, and the mysterious 'Matsukaze.'
What unusual flowers! I love that speckled look.
ReplyDeleteThey are so pretty, I just love those speckled flowers. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteMy toads aren't doing so well this fall due to lack of rain. I have been keeping the newest ones watered but the established are supposed to carry on. Amazing what a little rain will do for them.
ReplyDeleteShady, What do you have to do to coddle these beauties? We don't have snow cover, so I mulch a bit. gail
ReplyDeleteSunita, They are tiny little gems, but work their enjoyment! (Keep 'em close to the walkway so you can see them!)
ReplyDeleteHi Catherine!
Lisa, I would really like to have a couple of rainbarrels for that reason!
Gail, I add a little good compost near their feet right now and add mulch soon. When the leaves begin falling, I leave a nice pile over all the beds (which creates a lot more work in the Spring, but it's usually worth it!)
Well, sweety, I never would have known the difference. I am amateur gardener, here. :)
ReplyDeleteThe flowers are lovely!
Rosey
Hi SG~~ I suppose 'Matsukaze' isn't 'Miyazaki'--one that I have which looks strikingly similar to 'Lightening Strikes.' Makes you wonder if plant companies aren't trying to pull a fast one. LOL
ReplyDeleteThey are such cute, dainty flowers aren't they?
Hi Rosey, Most of the time (obviously) I don't know the difference either... but Some People do! ;-) But they are so pretty, aren't they? (A treat for this time of year in the shade.)
ReplyDeleteGrace, Nope. I think they're different. I did a Google search. ;-) Your Miyazaki is beautiful. It reminds me of the way 'Lightning Strikes' blooms (a blossom at each leaf base). In looking at a post of Miyazaki, those flowers were a little more mottled with a reddish purple than those of LS - would you agree?
Great collection! How do you keep the rabbits from destroying these plants?
ReplyDeleteHi Sylvana, To tell the truth - I have no idea! ;-)
