Once upon a time, in a high school English class, my best girl friend and I were challenged to increase our vocabulary. We shared two words. I took the word 'loquacious.' It was my responsibility to remember the meaning and for reminding her when she needed help. (What was the word for which she was responsible and for which I needed help? I don't remember!) ha!
This week's letter is
Spring has sprung, The grass has riz, This week's word - 'Loquacious' is!
Wordy, full of excessive talk? Yes! This Spring is quite (delightfully) loquacious. Just peruse the photos below!
Wild Ginger (wildflower) from Aunt MEA
Bloodroot - wildflower - from Aunt MEA
Trout Lily (wildflower in abundance)
Oh, I love the frilly daffodil. What a great assortment of spring treats. And your word is perfect.
ReplyDeleteHi LisaF, Thanks! :-)
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are all loquacious and lovely and perfect for the L day! Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteSylvia
Hi Sylvia, Thanks! One thing about this Meme, we can certainly work at increasing our vocabulary! ;-)
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely flowers! Lots of lilies for this week!
ReplyDeleteHi Beverly, That's true (or at least daffodils!) ;-)
ReplyDeleteooh, I love vocabulary words! Good challenge. Your spring garden is looking wonderful.
ReplyDeleteOh, so pretty! I especially love that little pulmonaria.
ReplyDeleteHi Kathleen, Thanks for visiting! It seems amazingly early for many of the plants that are growing, though.
ReplyDeleteAmy, thanks! I have a small collection of pulmonaria that I'll feature soon. :-) (You would love them!)
Things are looking great your way! Happy spring to you, too!
ReplyDeleteHi Shady ~ all is looking good in your garden, Toots! I'm panicking 'cause I don't see my Bloodroot (if yours is missing, you'll know where to look)!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sue. I'm sorry I haven't been to visit for awhile... I actually haven't been anywhere! (Except in my backyard).
ReplyDeleteJoey, I wish my "colony" were a bit larger... I'd send you some!!! Of course, if you came all the way down here, I'd give you some anyway! :-)
Lovely! You will have to post more on your blue bells as they get going - I think they are so sweet.
ReplyDeleteLove the fritillaria (checkered lily). I had to hand my garden over to a gardener some time ago and he dug all mine up! Doh!
ReplyDeleteSpring has been speaking to me loquaciously too! The sap is definitely rising - at last. :)
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love spring!~~Dee
ReplyDeleteDelightfully lovely littles!!
ReplyDeleteGarden Ms S - Absolutely! I'll be posting more on the Virginia Bluebells in a few days or so, as they're just now "coming into their own!"
ReplyDeleteJayne, What a sad story. I hope you are able to find some more bulbs (they're pretty easy to find, and you don't have to purchase expensive ones...)
Hi Sheila, What fun! I'm needing to see what "A Postcard a Day" means!
Dee, Absolutely! Isn't it wonderful?
Hi Tumblewords, It's getting better all the time! ;-) How are things at your place?
Hi Shady - lovely flowers! I really need to go and have a wander round my garden to see what's coming up .... but I spent the day wandering (coatless!) round our second-hand market with First-Born instead! Got to get my 'daughter fix' in before she goes back to uni at the weekend :(
ReplyDeleteHello SG~~ Loquacious sounds so much nicer than logorrheic. [How's that from a wannabe wordsmith? Smile, smile.]
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous of your success with the spring ephemerals. The trout lily...ooh la la! Fritillaria, OMGosh! Such beauties...
Please pat yourself on the back for me.
I'll stop now, lest I be accused [again] of the aforementioned adjectives. :)
Man, Shady, Aunt MEA is a generous relative! Those are some outstanding passalongs. Your VA bluebells have really naturalized well. I am envious of the little trout lilies, mine have never bloomed, but the leaves are still a joy to ponder. How funny about your word and forgetting the other one. Maybe your girlfriend will read this post and comment with the answer! Well, it COULD happen. Loquacious R us. :-)
ReplyDeleteFrances
Shady, I like loquacious and have always occasionally gotten it confused with Jean Luc Picard's Borg name Locutus...It seemed like loquacious made more sense! But then I never studied latin! But I digress and ambeing too loquacious...The subject is how lovely you flowers are...and they are. Love Virginia Bluebells, I had them once...they are buried under the big turtle rock in my front garden...I just never replaced them...I love spring;) gail
ReplyDeleteYou said 'Trevi fountain at right'. What I saw was, 'Trevi fountain at night'!! And my 'loquacious' imagination sent me to Italy! LOL nice L post!
ReplyDeleteLiz, Where (what?) is uni? In Iowa we have UNI - University of Northern Iowa (my original alma mater). But I do agree - you never can get enough "daughter-fixes!" :-) Coatless means warm weather. We've had a few days that were that warm. I think it's supposed to be quite cold tonight. Hope all these premature bloomers make it alright!
ReplyDeleteGrace, I had to look up your logorrhea/logorrheic word! Great Word!! I think I'm prone to some of this at times... hate to admit it. Being talkative should be enough! ;-) I'll take your pat - thanks! lol.
Hi Frances, I should have mentioned that the bluebells were passalongs from my mom! :-) Aren't they great? And they're spreading around so very sweetly!
Gail, Would you like me to send you a couple of Virginia Bluebells? I sent some to Kathleen and Monica last year. I'm hearing that Kathleen's are growing this Spring(!). Haven't as yet heard from Monica. BTW! My Tennessee Coneflowers are growing back very healthily this Spring!! Yea! Thankyouverymuch! :-)
belladana, You just sent me on a little trip of my own! ;-) Ohsolomio! ha. Thanks for your visit!
It sure does look like Spring. I love all those wildflowers! Does your Virginia Bluebell spread? I have one that has bloomed last year and this year with just one little clump of flowers. I'm really hoping it'll spread. I also would love to find some of the Trout lilies.
ReplyDeleteHappy Spring to you :)
Beautiful collection of spring flowers and plants, and I love the word 'loquacious'!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pity it's not so easy to add soundbites - the birds in springtime could definitely be described that way!
Lovely flowers.
ReplyDeleteI am not loquacious by nature, rather shy, but love the word.
On behalf of the ABC Wednesday team, thank you!- Ramblin' with Roger
Catherine, I've sent you an e-mail. Your Virginia Bluebells are not aggressive, but the seeds should be spreading. Watch for little round, green leaves in the early Spring. :-)
ReplyDeleteJay, You are exactly right! I should take a video and post it!!
Roger, I may not go through another round of the ABC's, but it's a fun meme!
Nice selection of plants.
ReplyDeleteWhat that Wild Ginger...really unique.
Beautiful photos of spring flowers. Do you really see all of those out now? Here in Sweden, there are still patches of dirty snow!
ReplyDeleteI am so late this week.
Best wishes,
Anna

Patsi, I will try to capture the blossom of the Wild Ginger this year! I completely missed it last year!!
ReplyDeleteAnna, Absolutely! These (and more) are blooming right now. Minnesota (the state north of us) received quite a snowfall last week. However, that would be a rather expected event yet at this time of year. Thank you for your visit! :-)
That checkered lily is really nice. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful bloom.
ReplyDeleteHi Mr. BT! Isn't it great? You should check into fritillarias! I'm going to post photos of a couple more varieties I planted two Falls ago. They're very unique, if nothing else! ha.
