Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day post:

I'm going to have to combine these posts in order to be able to participate in both memes!

This is blooming in my house today!

A kalanchoe.Sometimes they do well through the summer outdoors and bloom again indoors during the Winter. I'm going to see if it will work.
:-)

Have a nice day. Hope you're not suffering from eating too much chocolate yesterday!

  2. I love the Kalanchoe. They are hardy souls and well worth keeping inside during winter so you can enjoy them again and again.

  4. That kalanchoe has such pretty colors in it! I had to hide all the candy from myself and my kids :)

  5. Gail, :-)

Sue, I like the variety of colors. Thanks! :-)

    Hi Dee, Thanks! :-)

Catherine, Isn't it something when a flower can have so many colorful blooms all at the same time?? You are too funny! I can hide it but it can't run! ;-)

  6. Such a pretty kalanchoe--was it a Valentine's gift? I've always admired these plants but have never tried to grow one; I'm anxious to see how yours does over the summer.

  7. Definitely ate too much chocolate! Hiding it doesn't work for me ~ it calls my name wherever it is... Your Kalanchoe is really pretty ~ perfect Valentine colors. Happy (belated) bloom day too Shady Gardener.

  8. Oh, I love that gorgeous Kalanchoe! Isn't it wonderful the way it combines several colors? And such beautiful shades they are. Lucky you!
A perfect color for Valentine's Day. I hope your day was a happy one :)

  9. Perfect colors for Valentine's Day. Actually I consider those perfect colors for any day. My favorite palette.

  10. Rose, I could consider it a Valentine gift. It really wasn't, but any flower is a gift!! ;-) I'll be posting over the summer and/or fall.

Kathleen, I always eat too much chocolate! Oh, well... ;-) Nancy Bond had a beautiful one, too, didn't she?

Kerri, I think I'll have to pay more attention to kalanchoe plants. I'd like to note if their blossoms always have more than one shade! :-) I had a great day and I hope you did too!

Pat, I love red, too. Primarily in clothes! ;-)

  11. I love the color of your Kalanchoe. I bought a baby one, but it has white blooms (when it has them.)

  14. Hi MMD! Does your white-flowered kalanchoe have just white blossoms, or different shaded "whites?"

Carol, Hi! It's always a pleasure. I especially liked your post. :-)

Deb, Repeat-bloomers are the best, aren't they? Hope it works, anyway. ;-)

  15. Hi Shady,
And happy Valentine's Day and Bloom Day! Very nice kalanchoe, and they're so easy to start new ones (assuming you knew that?) from a leaf. I've never had much luck getting them to re-bloom, but haven't grown one since I was in college!

You want multicolored flowers on one plant? I have the perfect solution (requires sun though): 4 O'clocks! Get a pack of Kaleidoscope mix and you'll get wondrous multiple broken colors!

  16. IVG, I'd not thought of starting my own kalanchoe plants. I'll get right on it! Really!

I've committed to being on the garden tour at the end of June (you should come down!). I would love to have little plants to give away! My spider plant is LOADED with babies!

I'll keep 4 O'clocks in mind, even if I sow a few seeds and only a few grow, it'd be worth it! :-)

  17. Hi Shady,
I'm just getting over here:) There are so many people to visit! I have a kalanchoe blooming, too! It is one of the plants in my collage. I've never had one before, so this will be an experiment for me. I also have cyclamen which seems to be another popular indoor plant this time of year. That's a new one for me, too. I'm not a big indoor plant person, but couldn't stand it anymore! Your photos are lovely:)

  18. oops...I meant to ask you about the photo you use for GBBD...'Beauty can be found in every garden'. Is that something that you share? I have the GBMD photo on my blog, and I'd like to use this photo for GBBD. I hadn't seen that on Carol's blog so am wondering if it's just something that you came up with. Would you mind if I use it?

  19. Hi Jan, Thanks for your visit! It's never "too late!" And yes, go ahead and borrow the BGGD. I think Carol used it long ago, but may not anymore. I like it, however. Help yourself! :-)

  20. Oh my goodness, this is SO pretty. Kalanchoes were one of the very first things I ever grew when I first got married. I now have a new appreciation for the colors and shading of their gorgeous blooms.
