Wow, your PJM is BEAUTIFUL. They are boarderline hardy here, mine is small, sparse, and produces few if any blooms. Somewhat reminiscent of a Charlie Brown Christmas tree. Lovely post. :)
Haven't seen my Bleeding Hearts but then again they were all near the big tree that came down. Think PJM Rhododendron are the best ! Nice selection for GTS.
Hi Rebecca, I love the PJM! I planted a very small one in a shadier area of our backyard about 5 years ago. It's not more than a couple feet tall (at most) yet, but it's going to have a few more blossoms this year than last! :-)
Patsi, Oh, that would be a shame, if your bleeding hearts had been wiped out, Patsi. Surely they'll grow, don't you think?? Things just keep growing and blooming and I just keep raking and raking! ;-) Actually, I'm nearly done, I think!!
Love the gold foliage on the bleeding heart! It must be lovely in the shade garden. I have PJM's "Olga Mezzitt"...she's such a lovely pink. How do they fair in the midwest? They kind of puny out on us over the years! gail
Hi Gail, Rhodies must be somewhat sequestered from the elements in order to do well here. (Same with azaleas.) This bleeding heart was planted last year, so I'm really looking forward to seeing this foliage as a bright spot in the shady garden! :-) Did you enjoy your Easter weekend??
The 'Gold Heart' is such a pretty one, I've been hearing about that one. I love the rhodie and it's cute little flowers. They are just starting to bloom around here.

Hi Shady, Things are looking great your way. Your hellebore reminds me of my orientalis ones, but they all don't look just like each other, either, so I'm not sure.
I love your bleeding heart. My 2, one white, are just starting to bloom. It's spring! Yay!

Hi Sue! I only have two types of bleeding hearts also... the other is the original variety. I moved my one plant from our other house (which I planted 30 years ago!!). I'm thinking the hellebore might be orientalis... wonder why I can't find the order?? ;-)
It looks like you have the whole spectrum of spring shades in your garden now, Shady. Your Rhododendron is so vibrant. I wish they were more hardy here. My bleeding heart shoots are just emerging now, and I can't wait to see the lovely blooms.

It's official. I truly am the only gardener on the planet not growing Hellebore. Such a lovely flower.
I like your masthead, too. The Jack Frost Brunnera is always a happy sign of spring in my gardens. They keep my bleeding hearts company.
