Q is for Questions

If you visit Mrs. Nesbitt (click on the ABC Logo above), you'll see what is posted for Q.
If you see this same logo on her site, click to see who else is participating this month!

(At the risk of being a nuisance, this is all I could think of tonight!)

What is your favorite season?

What is your favorite flower?

What is your favorite scent?

What is your favorite hour?

What is your favorite pastime?

What is your favorite tool?

What is your favorite garden?

What is your favorite gruel?

What will you do for a neighbor?

What will you do for a friend?

What will you do for your parent?

And the amount of time you would spend?

Where would you go for some quiet?

Where would you go for some noise?

Where would you sit for your reading?

For traveling, what is your choice?

Q most definitely brings questions,

Q, my friend, is the quest,

Q, their answers, solicit.

And YOU must supply all the rest!

The last Q of the day? Quit!
I quit - but only this post. I'm in this meme until I finish Z! :-)

Kudos!

Kudos (!) to the developer of

'Raspberry Splash' Pulmonaria

This little fellow has grown and is blooming before all his cousins!
This is its second year in the garden.
He stopped me in my tracks this afternoon!
:-)

ABC Wednesday - J-ust In Case You Wondered...

I'm a week behind with my "J" post.

Just in case you've wondered.
Just in case you've cared...

While my computer was visiting his doctor,
I spent my time raking flower beds!

The first step was to rake most of the leaves off the beds last week ...

... leaving piles of leaves all around the bed edges.
I've finished raking, shredding and hauling about 1/2 the leaves so far.
I'll share the progress later)

Just in case you've wondered.
Just in case you have time to spare,

You can tell the progress I'm making

But you're invited to help, should you dare...

:-)

Just in case you're curious,
Just in case you've wondered,

These are some early Springtime sights

You'll see in "Shady's Gardens!"

Photos taken today and yesterday.

'tete-a-tete'

'Jack Frost' Brunnera

'Brushstrokes' Hellebore
(Much to my chagrin, this blossom had been pinched from its stem and was lying on the ground today... squirrel?)

B for Birds! (that was easy!)

is for Bountiful Birds

a Bevy of Beauty
a Bonanza of Bridd

We returned home Friday afternoon (Jan. 22, 2010),
after having been gone for a few days.
We found...
Lots of ICE ... (Check out our driveway!)

... and hungry Birds.

Click on any of the photos below.
Most enlarge somewhat.

American Goldfinches on the left and a Common Flicker on the right.

Common Flicker (yellow-shafted form)

Below, left to right:
Purple (male) Finch, Black-capped Chickadee, Tufted Titmouse, American Goldfinch

For most of the day, Saturday, it rained.
On Sunday we could see the grass!

More Birds - photos taken Sunday, January 24, 2010.

Again, left to right, American Goldfinch, Purple (female) Finch, A. Goldfinch
Is it not a wonder how these little birds can crack open shells, and eat the seeds without losing the "goodie?"

Purple (male) finch

Purple (female) Finch (so cute?)

"Hey! What does a fellow have to do to get in on the grub around here?"
(I heard the chickadee say, quite plainly!)

The same sentiments were echoed by the Red-bellied Woodpecker,
not more than a few minutes later. :-)

This next photo was taken January 6, 2010.
It's a female Northern Cardinal
at the
Birdbath.

A veritable Battery of Birds in and around their Bathtub and Beyond!

B is for Birdhouse
The photo below was taken May 18, 2009,
shortly after it was put in the Sunny Corner Garden Bed.

Monday (1/24/10) I walked past the living room...

More SNOW! Actually, I'm relieved.
We're supposed to have snow at this time of year.
It's beautiful and I love to watch it fall.
(esp. if you don't have to travel far!)

The same Birdhouse, as taken from the kitchen window
at 8:00 A.M. Monday, Jan. 24.

The photo below was taken December 31, 2009:

Bluebirds
in Barbie's (one of my sisters) tree!

The tree is now 2 1/2 years old. Isn't it great that it's being used?
:-)

Best Wishes for the day!

Nothing shady here, besides a few shifting shadows.
