ABC Wednesday - R is for Red

or Rojo (Spanish), Rouge (French), Rot (German), Rood (Dutch), Rosso (Italian).

Here we have the (Red) Summer Tanager.
He was successful at getting suet from the feeder.  It was and interesting venture, though, and fun to watch!  :-)  This photo was taken May 9, 2015.

While this photo was taken almost one year earlier to the date!

"My Little Orphant Annie"

First of all, Apologies to James Whitcomb Riley fans!

My Little Orphant Annie's come to our house to stay,
Not to wash the cups and saucers up or brush the crumbs away,
But to push the blues and doldrums out and chase them all away!

An' all us folks that live here will surely be so glad
to watch the growth of this little gal; and slowly's not so bad...

Acer palmatum var. Dissectum Red Select

The readings I have found tells me the average height is 6 feet and width of 8 feet,
however due to its slow growth, it is not expected to be over 3-4 feet tall and 6-8 feet wide
after ten years' growth.

I have a friend with a tree that is very mature... and just as beautiful as can be.
I've admired it for a few years.
Yes!  I found this at an unbelievably low cost at a local discount store (!).
There was only one and I found it!!  :-)

We just received .8" of rain.
Beautiful!

I really don't know where I might permanently locate this youngster, so for the time being it is in a pot.  :-)

Happy Spring!!
