ABC Wednesday - C is for Cardinal

Click the logo below to enjoy the multitude of posts by participants of this meme.

This is a female Cardinal. She and some of her "friends" have been hanging around here a lot lately... in search of the food my neighbors and I set out during our Iowa Winters.

While the bright red color of a male Cardinal is striking,
wouldn't you agree that a female is also beautiful?

It seems she is Cordial to the Cute little Juncos that Compete for food.

It may be the angle of the photo,
but I think I'm Confused!

Perhaps Confounded? Consternated?

It looks as though our Cute little Cardinal may have been Cagier than her pursuer!

Congratulations, little one!

Great post for ABC! We have these same birds at our feeders this morning!

I think we are too windy to lure an cardinals, cute or confused. They are cany birds.

Hi Larry D, Thanks. As long as we feed them, they will come! ;-)

Commonweeder, Thanks for your visit. I agree.

I love the soft hues of the female as much as the black mask and bright red of the male.

Pretty much all we've got hanging around are the juncos & cardinals too.

Great captures.

Yes, but I just don't recognize the females as easily.

Nothing cheers me up quicker than seeing little birds enjoying their birdseed.
Cute little Cardinal!

Hi Roger, Esp. if she's lost her tail feathers? ;-)

Rosey, You're right, of course. When they're feeding outside your window, it's hard to get much done besides watching them!

We don't have The Cute Cardinal in Europe, so thank you for sharing :-)

We've been getting all kinds of birds here lately and I can hear them cheeping away in the tree outside my bedroom window and sitting on the roof. I must get some seed out for them.

RunE, I visit a couple of sites written by UK bloggers. The birds she shows are beautiful! Thanks for your visit.

Lesie, You must be in a warmer spot. I'll have to check it out! :-)
