Friends and I joined a bus tour of Tulip Time in Pella, Iowa yesterday.
This is a little grouping of photos of our day there.
Pella is a Dutch community that celebrates their heritage over the Mother's Day weekend,
every year.
Enjoy!

Great tulips and such a fun festival!
I enjoyed your beautiful photos of all of the festivities. I just love it when a town keeps the traditions alive and includes all ages.
Have a Happy Mother's Day.
Now I have always wanted to know - those wooden clogs, are they comfortable?
Our children and grandchildren live in Pella and we heard the timing of the festival was excellent this year... fun to see the photos since we couldn't be there ourselves! L
Shady loved the tour.... all the colours of tulips . Have a nice weekend......
Nice tour. Tulips look grand in masses. Wonder how long ago anyone commonly wore wooden clogs.
Tulips are definitely worth celebrating, I think. Great photos. It looks like it was a really fun day for you. Happy Mother's Day to you too.
How fun. The tulips are beautiful. I think there should be a festival everywhere to celebrate but we don't have one here.
Happy Mother's Day to you too SG! Hope you have a wonderful day.
ps. my bluebells are blooming!! :-)
I'm so glad to read that you went on an outing and 'm sure it did you good.
More tulips and klompen than in the whole of Holland :-)
ShadyG, what fun, and the tulips are beautiful.
I just saw and am so sorry about your father. My mom was my hero. Blessing to you and your family.
What a lot of fun! A number of years ago, some people we did some things with showed us an old reel to reel movie the guy's dad had filmed of the Pella Tulip Days, or whatever it is called. I enjoyed your photos!
Gardener - truly an enjoyable day with friends.
Thanks for your visit, Sherri.
Ali, I wonder about that, too. My husband's grandfather wore them (at home at least), as he emigrated from Belgium to the USA.
Larry, I overheard one of the "people-in-charge" mention this was the first year in the past three or four, in which the tulips had performed perfectly! :-)
Thanks, Rosemary.
Patsi, I think that it hasn't been all that long ago... maybe 2 or 3 generations?
Thank you, Grace.
Kathleen, Thanks for visiting - and I'm THRILLED your V Bluebells are growing and blooming!!
Jo, I wondered about that. There was a delegation from Holland while we were there. I wondered if they were thinking the same thing??
Thank you, Diana. I'm with my mom right now. 'tis very sad that Dad's not here.
Sue, You were a part of a historical recording, then. :-) That would have been fun!
always fun to see your photos. Tulip festival looks like a place I need to visit!! also enjoyed your tribute to your father. A wonderful man! Glad you stopped at the nursery today
