A Fungus Among-Us! (15 1/2" in diameter!!)






Found at our beautiful Jefferson County Park - located SW of Fairfield.  So.... What is it??

Troutbirder! :-) I didn't detect a sound or motion, but all the photos I took might have quieted it... lol

I agree it's amazing! I hope it is identified before long. If it were edible and I could have saved the world!! ha!

that is a Chicken mushroom, usaully found on red oaks, sometimes a pine. it is edible, clean it a bit slice it up fry in butter with a little water.
The offical name is Laetiporus sulphureus.

it makes good eating.
