Whoville?? Have you seen Horton?

In the book Horton Hears a Who by Dr. Seuss, Horton the Elephant discovers a speck of dust that turns out to be a tiny planet. He actually hears the voices of the tiny inhabitants of Who-ville, called Whos. To read more about this book, follow this link (click on these words) to the Wickipedia site.

Might we surmise that that speck of dust
actually landed in the desert near Phoenix, Arizona?
(click on the photo below to find out!)
And enjoy Day Two of our trip! :-)

That is certainly different looking isn't it? Very pretty though.

Well actually not lately (maybe 30+ years) but I actually think I could recite his whole story from memory along with the story of a certain cat who wore a tall red and white striped hat.

Not sure which is more beautiful - the blown glass or the cactus flowers. Thanks

LOL, once you've seen a Chihuly, you can always recognize others. I love this sunburst-looking one!

Wasn't the Chihuly exhibit amazing? I thought most of the pieces looked as if they had been planted there, they seemed to blend in with the landscape so well. Enjoyed all your blooming cacti photos; I think we picked the right time to visit Arizona.

Raingardner, It was an amazing sight... and caused me to wonder "how?"

troutbirder, I know what you mean. I love Dr. Seuss' stories, many of which had a message!

Kylee, Hmmm. Do you need to add something like this to your garden?

Bobbie, the glass was wonderful, but sometimes I felt it detracted from the natural beauty that surrounded it.

Monica, I will recognize it NOW. It was an amazing sight, many of which looked quite at home in the garden setting.

Rose, I'd love to hear about your trip to Arizona. Are you posting about it? You're right. We were fortunate to have visited at a perfect time. :-)

I recognised the Chihuly glass immediately (but only because I have seen many images from the botanical garden on Flickr. They are amazing. You were lucky to see them.

Didn't you just love Chihuly in the garden?? I wish I could afford to go there and see it in person too.

That's one gorgeous, sunny scupture! Someday, I've got to get to Phoenix.
BTW, you asked about Hellebore care. I cut all the old leaves off when the new growth starts, usually in February to early March. The plants look better without the icky old leaves and the new growth & flowers are easier to see.

Ha! You are so funny! Of COURSE my garden needs a Chihuly! Got a few hundred thousand to give me?

Actually, I DO have a Chihuly in my garden! ;-)

Kate, they were quite amazing, and it was fun to see them in person.

Lisa, It was definitely worth seeing, however I really loved the flowers, too. ;-)

MMD, Actually the exhibit will not be there too much longer. And Thank You for the advice on the hellebores. :-)

Rosemary and Grace, I'd really love to see the works being created, wouldn't you?

Kylee, If I had the $, I'd share! ;-) I love that you really do have a Chihuly in your garden! What a memorable way to remember your experiences. (HOW does one add a link in a comment?)

Oh, those glass sculptures are just the most exquisite things ever. Chihuly's website is bookmarked on my computer for when I need to look at something so truly creative.

Here's how you embed the URL for a direct link:

< a href="put the URL here" > put the words you want to be the link here < /a >

Remove the spaces by the < and >. There IS a space between the a and href though.

Thanks, Kylee!! I'll be jotting this down. ;-)
FYI: today's word verification is "ressel" ha! I'll "ressel" with this, alright! :-)

CMamaFishy, Isn't that something? It wouldn't fit in my garden, though. It's such a huge masterpiece! :-)
