YOU deserve this Award today!

You are my friend.

I have met an amazing number of wonderful gardeners and garden bloggers during this past one and three-fourths year. I'll be celebrating two years of blogging towards the end of May. :-)

There's no way I can pass out this Friend Award to only eight of you.
So, I'm going to say Thank You to each of you for how you have inspired me, challenged me, and rewarded me. And thank you for being a friend! I know this isn't the proper method of presenting the award... but I want you each to have it.

Is that okay, Rosemary??

In the meantime, check out the lengths to which
this garden blogger goes to get the inside scoop
on a certain hellebore blossom!
ha!

It was overcast here,
but not Shady! ;-)

Handing your camera to a squirrel is very creative! What? That's NOT what you did?! Oh. ;-) Yay for blogging friends! I'm looking forward to meeting you at Spring Fling--you can see kind of a preview of it in my latest post.

Monica, I loved your post. I'm not signed up for Spring Fling. There was a deadline, and I just couldn't commit myself if I couldn't make it... however, perhaps (hope, hope) I can make it to MMD's yard that Friday...

The leaves aren't right for pasque flower, though the buds sure look like them. I love Virginia bluebells and recognize them in bloom, but you can tell I don't grow them myself as I've never seen the cool "scrunched up" buds. Is that what's in your header photo too? I think MMD's garden is off the tour now, but she's hosting something Sunday afternoon. Hope you can make it still!

I love your 'lie down on the wet, soggy ground to get this shot' for us photo! You are a fantastic blogger to do that! I am so excited to know you signed up for SF. Yippee! gail

What we gardeners don't go through to capture the moment! Would have loved to see you get this shot :)

What a nice award and you deserve it! I love your picture, those hellebores sure can be tricky!

Shady Gardener said...

Gail, I'm just silly enough to do whatever it takes! ;-) (BTW, I really didn't make the SF deadline)

Lisa, see my comment above. It's disappointing, but...

Patsi, just put it on your site! You deserve it, too!

Joey, It wasn't a pretty sight! ha!

Catherine, You should post the award, too. YOU also deserve it. Yes... those hellebores are anything but boring! ;-)

Hi SG, some people think that's what life is like here in Australia, on the other side of the world. lol. But seriously, wonderful wonderful photo. Could be a new photographic method - yoga photography.(lol) Important distinction between shady and overcast, I love that soft light.
cheers, catmint

Thanks Shady! I am quite certain you were the first person to comment on my new blog those two years ago. I remember thinking "another retired teacher." This could be fun. It was. Thanks

Congrats on being such a dedicated blogger Shady Gardener. I feel lucky to have "met" you & your garden thru the Internet, that's for sure. btw, I will be digging some filipendula to send you very soon. Please let me know your address. lol on the hellebore photo ~ I've actually gotten aches & pains from contorting my body to get a photo.

Catmint, When I was young, I thought that if I could get to the equator, I could just drill a hole straight through the earth and crawl through! ;-)

Hi Rosemary, Thanks, and kudos to you.

Troutbirder, You are very kind. If I was first at your blog, I'm impressed with myself! ha! :-) Of course, I'm always drawn to Minnesota and its residents.

Hi Phoenix, I agree. :-)

Kathleen, Thank you SO Much!! Have I promised YOU anything?? BTW, Filipendula is such a great name, isn't it? However, its common name is just as great. I mean, How many people sport Queen of the Prairie? ;-)

Congratulations on your award, and congratulations on that photo! We do go to great lengths to capture a picture sometimes. People without cameras must think we are crazy. But those of us who won't leave the house without one understand.

Shady Gardener said...

Hi Bobbie, I KNEW you'd understand! ;-) The award is for you, as well!

That's great! BTW, I use a stick to lift up the Hellebore bloom to photograph it. Saves wear & tear on my pants & my joints.

MMD, Never underestimate the ingenuity of a Shady Gardener! ;-) I just hold the camera below the blossom until I finally get a shot I can deal with! ;-) Thanks for your visit!!
