I Have It In My Hands!

But I've hardly gotten it out of the box, yet!

I want to read the directions before I use it... wonder when THAT will be??

Ta-dah! (drumroll!)

I just purchased a Canon PowerShot SX120 IS.
It's the new model of what I thought I'd wanted (SX 110), so
it has 10.o megapixels
and (!) 10x optical zoom.

I'm very excited.
You can read about it here!

You might watch for some trial-and-error shots.

PS - Is anyone else having trouble reaching their blogspot blogs?? I see the addresses now leave out the "www" prefix. I have no idea if that's what's causing my problems?? I can hardly "find" my blog (or anyone else's that has a Blogspot address.)

Nothing else about this post seems shady except for the problem I'm having with accessing blogs with a Blogspot address!

Congratulations, ShadyG! I hope it's going to give you some wonderful shots! I'm sure you'll love it...and I'll be anxious to see your new photos! I haven't had a problem w/blogger/blogspot...at least not when I've tried to check. I hope you figure out what the issue is;-)

Hi Jan, :-) I hope Someone can help me figure out the issue with Blogspot! It's kind of driving me crazy!

I knew that's what I'd see when I saw the post title! I bet you're happy to finally have it. You're going to have lots of fun trying all the settings out. Can't wait to see your pictures.

Sorry Shady. I'd like to help but I have several issues with the system myself that I've been unable to figure out.

I have had no problem finding you or anyone else on Blogspot. Your new camera is a beaut. I will look forward to seeing some practice shots.

Shady, That is the best news! I can't wait to see your photos. You'll love the zoom!

Sosorry you've had blog problems! I had problems with blogger a few weeks ago...My conclusion is that they must be making some tweaks, but not doing it all at once. The most irritating thing is that blogger makes no announcements and makes us wonder if we are the only blog being affected! The arrogance of google! Sorry about the rant! gail

I have a Canon Power Shot camera, had it 3+ years. I love love love it. The only problem is that in low light, the flash doesn't cut it. But otherwise, it is great. I dropped it on a tile floor and it survived, with one minor injury. I use the 15 minute battery recharger with the AA batteries. I think they last longer than the high quality E batteries. I have two sets of the rechargable batteries, had one of the sets for the whole 3 years. I take a ton of pictures!

Regarding blogger: I have most of the blogs I go to on buttons on the toolbar listed on my bookmarks. They are all listed with no www and have been for a long time. I have no problems going to them. Maybe you need to redo your blogs-to-read listings with the up to date URLs and just have them bookmarked so you can click on the links.

Hi Catherine! I drove to Iowa City (an hour+ drive) and found the camera in person. :-)

Troutbirder, I think (like Gail) they must be doing some adjustments to the system... at any rate, today I made it in on Internet Explorer. (That doesn't always work, though.) I am always a faithful Firefox user.
But today, I'm glad I have both.

Lisa, Tomorrow we are invited to dinner to my daughter-in-law's parents' home (about 2 1/2 hours away). She and the 3 children drove there yesterday... I'm so excited. We haven't seen the family since June (but we'll miss seeing our son). All that is to say, I'll have some "drive-time" in which to read the camera's book before we arrive (and use the camera!). LOL.

Hi Gail, That 10x zoom is what I was looking for! It was fun to use the camera on display to see what it would do in the store. Much better than ordering over the internet!! ;-)

I'm kinda' assuming the same... that they're making adjustments to the system. Is there no one to contact, just to find out??

Hello, PS - I like your name. I'm always leaving a "ps" at the end of a note! ;-) Thank you for visiting me today. And thank you for encouraging me about my new camera! I have read nothing but over-all great reports about it. I know I will enjoy it... and you might even see photos of birds at the feeder this Winter! ;-)

I had all my faves on my toolbar until the feed stopped reading the new entries. This is why I figure something is "going on out there!"

congratulations on your new camera. It's exciting to start out with something like that, isn't it?

Hi, I got your note in my email. I realize that people go to my old blog when they check out my profile, so I changed that so it will no longer show up. But now, it looks like my comment, above, is gone, except for my name. I'll have to make sure I'm not commenting on blogs and then nothing shows up. Let me know if you get this. Thanks.

Yippee! A new camera with which to play - I'm sure you're going to have lots of fun with it. As for the blogger problem, I haven't noticed anything, but then I haven't been online that much lately.

Bobbie, Very! :-) I will be reading the book in the car tomorrow afternoon and taking a lot of grandchildren photos all day. Yea!

Hi PS, I did get both messages... Thanks for stopping back!

Rosey, I will let you know for sure. I anticipate loving it due to all the recommendations and reviews. It uses double A batteries, so I purchased re-chargeables and a charger, too.

MMD, I have a wonderful friend who has volunteered to look over my computer after Labor Day! I think I need the help!

I have camera envy. Looking forward to the wonderful photos you will post.

Shady Gardener said...

Hi Rosemary... don't. You already take great photos! :-) I'm sorry I haven't visited anyone much lately. I've been having trouble getting through Blogger sites. Tonight, however, this came Right Up! :-)

Yay!!!! I'm so glad your camera came. It looks like a very fine choice. I can't wait to check out your photos although (since I'm catching up on your blog) I can already see you're taking some good ones. Congrats on your new camera!

Congrats on your new purchase! I still haven't read much of my manual from the camera I've had since December. I really should get back to it.
