Such a Lot of Rain in October!

On October 28, we received a lot of rain!

(Yes... I'm taking the photo through the closed window... tooo much rain!)

Because I'd not emptied our rain gauge, I thought we'd received 5" over the day...
however, I was wrong.

But - I wonder if we didn't receive about 3" that morning.

Prior to this, while I was visiting my parents, Mr. Shady and our wonderful neighbors
removed a chain link fence and dug a ditch to facilitate the drainage of the abundant rainfall we've received during these past two years.

Perhaps you can see that it's working!!! Yea!

Since I plant so much in fall, I'd love it if it had been as rainy here! :)

Yup the whole month of Oct here was ugly as well. And with all the rain the farmers with beans were going nuts.
btw the photo with the deer in the headlights was googled up with the search images option. When desperate for a picture that goes with the story I use that option. And yes as a teacher I know all about copywrites. :)

That is a lot of rain, we've been having a lot here too. Glad the drain is working!

Thank you for your comments. In general, I just want to say that our neighbor/friends had experienced some basement woes due to the couple of rainfalls that exceeded our normal expectations... so they are happy (as are we) that this ravine seems to be working out! :-)

I need one of those ditches between my house and the neighbors! What a great project. At least it's rain and not snow ~ that's what I say!

Kathleen! It really is a lot of work... and the work isn't really quite finished, yet. But it's a great solution to a problem. And what you say is right! :-)
