Deterring Future Intruders?

I looked at them both and asked, "Would you?"
She smiled at her friend saying, "Let's do!"
So, they posted their sentry,
allowing no entry,
Meaning, "Hey deer! You're finally through!"

Near a Shady Bed in the backyard,
I asked, "Do you think this'll be hard?"
"No way," echoed they,
"We've decided to stay!"
Thought I... "Please let no deer in my yard!"

"Follow me now, I'll show you evidence,
And no, I admit to not having a fence."
So, after taking a glance,
They took up their stance.
And already I'm feeling less tense!

This is Susan Scare-the-Birds and her friend, the mysterious stranger - click the link to read of their first meeting, back on September 16, 2008.  :-)

Yes, indeed.  I think this is my first Summertime visit by a deer.  You might note there's been a "nice" clearing provided by a neighbor...(hopefully not attractive to other visitors) so I'm hoping these two provide a little diversion!!!

Good plan! My ferocious dog Baron barks at any intruders including deer and racoons from his safe haven in the kennel.... they quickly learn he harmless though. :)

You're so creative. Not only with your poetry but with Susan and MS too. I hope they do the trick.

I'd think the clearing by your neighbor would help.
We have no deer but discovered feral cats under our shed.

'David Rose' mildew resistant??? NO

troutbirder, I think perhaps having a dog in the past might have helped (at least his scent) deter deers. Hopefully there's not another intruder for awhile. You can guess the damage they'd do here!! Don't want to think about it!

Hi Grace, Just having fun. I'm glad you enjoy! ;-)

Patsi, Oh, no! Feral cats are NOT invited here, either. We bird-lovers must be diligent on their behalf! Too bad about 'David Rose.' He's a beautiful phlox.

Oh this is so funny, I can't believe that you have DEER that trample your garden!!! Now that's something.

Will Susan and her hot friend keep them away?

Hi Ali, This truly has been my first encounter with them... but other people have to deal with them a Lot! I hope they don't decide to come back... they could decimate my gardens!! (Hope those two keep their eyes ahead!) ha.

Shady hopefully Susie and her friend will keep the deer for making your garden home....

I hope so, too, Rosemary. I've not given them a thought prior to this! ;-)

Hey Shady, not a problem I can imagine having here. Love your approach to deal with it! Great fun at your place :-)

Would really love to watch live on a night cam to see any meetings during the night (guessing that's when they visit) then again...

I should think YOU would be the perfect one to "set up shop" with your live cam, Shirl!! :-)
