R is for The Road

This is Mr. Shady's favorite poem, I think. R also stands for Robert. Robert Frost happens to be the author of this poem.

The Road Not Taken
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I ---
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

This is last year's foray into the woods for Morel Mushrooms.
Is this the picture that comes to YOUR mind when you think of this poem?

Probably not! ha.
Have a great day!

You can add me to the list of those who think of this as their favorite poem... so simple, and yet so amazingly powerful, especially as we get older and consider our lives! Larry

Larry, Thanks for your visit. I understand completely.

Hi Joey, :-) Do you find morels in Michigan? This was probably the largest crop we've found, yet!

Such a beautiful poem, I hadn't read it in a while, thanks for posting it. It truly does make all the difference.

Morels ARE Michigan, Shady. I love them ... covet them ... crave them. Have I ever found them ... NO :(

Will you be my new best friend :)

Hi Kylee, Amazing, huh? ;-)

I have always loved that poem, because it seem like all my life I have deliberately picked the road less traveled. And I believe it tryuly has made all the difference.

Ever since I moved to Michiogan people have been promising to take me Morel hunting. Well it's been 11 years now, and I still have never gone.

On behalf of the ABC Wednesday Team, Thanks for participating this week. Hope you can join us again next week.

Hi Joey, I'm already one of your "new" best friends! :-) If I ever get to Michigan to visit my family, I'm going to see if you're available!!

Hi Troy, My friend Joey (above) lives in Michigan. She loves those morels, too but it looks as though she's never found them. Around here, we look for fallen elm trees...

I always think of broken romances.

Frost's death in 1963 was the first passing I remember of a public figure that moved a lot of people.

Hi, Shady;
That's my favorite poem, too. Cool to see you're a mushroom hunter. We hunt for Chantrelles around these parts. :)

What a wonderful poem. I would love to hunt for mushrooms someday :-)

Hi Roger, Thanks for the information. I hadn't remembered that...

Kate, I'll have to look up Chantrelles mushrooms (sounds exotic!) ;-)

Drive north, Noelle! :-)

Think it's hard to take the road less traveled but may well be more rewarding.
Nice poem.

Hi Patsi, I'm sure you're right.. it certainly depends upon the roads themselves! In the case of hunting mushrooms, it may very well be the determining factor in finding some! :-)
