Pretty In Pink!

This is "Year Three" for this daylily called "Pretty In Pink!"

about daylilies - including these.)

I HAD to share these photos, as "Pretty In Pink" has outdone itself this year!

A vigorous daylily with high bud count, Pretty In Pink has lovely pink 5" blossoms from early to mid-summer. The plant's height is 27 inches or so.  It seems to be somewhat drought tolerant, but everything need moisture!  The flowers are also considered to be fragrant and attract butterflies.

Hemerocallis are perennial plants that thrive in sun to part-shade conditions, and are generally grown in Zones 3 through 9.  I must tell you that although they receive bright light and some direct sunlight, most of my daylilies receive more than their share of shade... and do considerably well!

Shady,
It looks so huge, very pretty. Three years, needs some loam in the soil, here three years they become ten fold.

That is one huge daylily! Daylilies have fast become one of my favorite plants. I've been amazed at how some of my two-year-old's have really grown this year. Your pink is a beauty.

What a huge bloom on that daylily! Love the color, too.

Randy, You are so right! The plant itself is not full and gorgeous, but I feel that the amount of shade it gets is part of the problem. Loam for sure this Fall!! In fact, a good top-dressing of my "Golden Compost" from my pile mixed with the leaf mold I've been "aging" in trash bags since last Fall!! :-)

Hi Darla, I agree totally. For this reason only, I wish I had more sunny spots!

Rose, They are typically pretty carefree. Randy (above) is right, though. It's hard to take care of all the large beds I have by myself, but this is the one I will totally amend this Fall. It is NOT one I created "from scratch," so the soil is truly poor.

Hi Cameron, I'm glad you visited today! I love it, too. :-)

I love daylilies, too. We are about halfway through their season. I am starting to get sad.

That pink one is a beauty, and I enjoyed seeing the yellow one, too. I have one like that, but I'm not sure if it's the same thing.

Rebecca - just try it out!!

Daylilies fit with everything, don't they Sue? Do you have "rebloomers?"
