More of What's Happening in "Shady's Land"

In the Front Sunny Corner, there are a couple more daylilies blooming.
Unfortunately (how does this Happen??) no names.

My Butterfly Bush named 'Adonis Blue'
was planted last Spring (2008) and it's good to see that it's happy.
This is a dwarf variety, growing about 3 or 3 1/2 feet tall.

Each little blossom has a bright orange center.

This is in the Backyard:

'My Reggae Tiger'

Someone's trying to Tame this tiger! ;-)
This makes me say "Wow!" :-)
Nothing "Shady" here, either!

I do like that butterfly bush! I've been wanting one, but didn't really want something so big; I'll have to look for this cultivar. Lovely lilies! I can't identify most of mine either, because they were passalongs.

Lilies and a butterfly bush - perfect combination! They are beautiful.

Hi Rose, 'Adonis Blue' is really true to form so far. It's really only about 3 1/2 feet tall or so right now. I don't have a large space to dedicate either, so it's in the front part of the flower bed I created last Spring. :-)

Hi Bobbie, I love the purple and orange! How are you? I need to visit! (This is the wonderfully busy time outdoors, isn't it?)

Great shot of the ant in the Daylily. We were recently discussing the merits of dwarf Butterfly Bushes, as Elizabeth Licata has one that is 10 feet tall now. I like the color of 'Adonis Blue,' he's quite a hunk!

I love all those daylilies! I've recently heard about that dwarf butterfly bush, and it sure is pretty! Perfect size for a small garden.

MMD, Should I call him "Hunky Adonis?" ;-) Hope he stays dwarf, however. Loved your daughter's post!

Hi Nutty Gnome, It really is as beautiful in person. We think we know what we like, and then along comes something like this! ;-)

Rosey, I do, too. They're not side by side, but I suppose I could change that. :-)

Those lilies look great. I bet the bees and butterflies love them.

I just saw a dwarf butterfly bush this year for the first time. I love your daylilies. I had some here when we bought this house, so I have no idea what they are named. I am beginning to love orange more and more.

Butterfly Bush 'Adonis Blue' is beautiful addition to your garden. Love to watch butterflies and hummingbirds arriving in the garden to visit the butterfly bush.
Thank you for your visit,
Gisela

Hi Catherine, Judging by the time of our posts, we were typing simultaneously! You beat me, though. :-) It is a very cute BB. I should post a photo of the entire plant and its surroundings to better show its size.

Hi Chad and Brandy! Thanks for stopping. I'm thinking perhaps hummingbirds might like them, too?

MissyM, Hello! If you're liking the color orange, and you like butterflies, you'd really like Butterfly Milkweed (Asclepias).

Hi Gisela, You probably own a full sized BB? 'Black Knight' was one I'd always wanted. They're one of the butterfly magnets, aren't they?

Troutbirder, I made a vow after we moved here, that I was going to try Very Hard to keep the store tags and order forms, make my own garden markers, and create garden bed maps. So far, I've done pretty well. I've "goofed up" several times, however... but that's okay, too. There are wonderful help sites for finding the botanical names, too.

Lisa, Many plants condone a certain amount of shade. I've found that daylilies can tolerate quite an amount of shade, as long as they get a certain amount of sunlight (and/or Bright Light). :-)
