Is It A Charlie Brown Tree? ;-)

I think the idea of Green Thumb Sunday is to show what's actually blooming. You might check in at As the Garden Grows. If you decide to show what's blooming on Sundays, create your post and leave a comment on their latest posting. The biggest green (formerly living) thing in the house is our new tree!

It was growing on the south side of the house (approx. 2 feet from the foundation) and getting way too big for it's britches, if you know what I mean! Anyway, I used a handsaw Tuesday around lunch time and cut the top 4/5 off ... tah, dah ... our Christmas tree!

Nearly decorated.

Light and airy. Would you venture "ethereal?"
Well... maybe not. ha!

Probably more like a "Charlie Brown Tree."

I had some very lightweight red "roping" left from last year.
But I didn't have enough.
Guess I'll look for something else.

This last photo is what our neighbors see when they drive home.

I know... I still have to put up the roping and outdoor lights...

Maybe Monday. ;-)

I think it's wonderful! The shape is great and I don't think it's a bare CBT at all.

Shady , Love your tree can imagine the lovely scent such a fresh tree gives. Smart idea to use one that is in the wrong place.

I love the tree--it's very German--they like the open spaces and don't decorate it every sqaue cm, either!

A tree from your own garden? It's great! I like what Monica said. When I lived in Russia, we used this type of trees. Sometimes, we needed to attach several additional branches to make the tree to look more bushy.

That is not a Charlie Brown tree - it's graceful and beautiful. What's funny is that some company is selling fake Charlie Brown Christmas trees, complete with single ornament and a blue blanket.

That's a beautiful tree! We're always searching for a 'skinny' one so we can show off all our ornaments. :)

Hi Cameron! I've missed you! (I think that's my fault!) Anyway, thanks for the kind comments... I really like it, too. :-)

Hi Rosemary, Perhaps I'll have to start another tree somewhere... ;-)

Are you German, Monica? Some of my husband's family are. They might approve, then? ;-)

Hi Tatyana, Thanks for your visit today! I probably could attach more branches, but I think I'll leave it as it is. I like it. :-) ps There are a couple of little angels standing in front of the upper trunk (in the "bare" areas).

Hi MMD! Thanks! Someone is selling Charlie Brown trees? I'll have to see if I can find it on-line... just to get a look. I love my tree, too. Too bad it's real (in that I won't be able to keep it!) ha. But those needles will provide some nice mulch for my acid loving plants later!!

Thanks, Michelle. :-)

Hi Kate. I have one of those "skinny" fake trees. I started a small collection of bird ornaments that hang on it all year. It's fun.

Patsi, Thanks! The windows are facing West. The violets and (Christmas)cacti love it there!

Shady, it's me again. There is a link to your blog in my today's post. Thank you!

I think it's perfect. I actually like that type of tree best, much more natural looking.

I have always love Charlie Brown's Christmas tree. Yours is beautiful, despite it's airyness :)

Hey, you have the same kind of tree as us. I actually love your tree, it has simple charm. Not too cluttery. Rosey

Hi Tatyana, I loved your post. You live in a beautiful place!

Hi Catherine! Me, too. We do have a "fake" tree. I appreciate the real tree from time-to-time.

Noelle, It's airy, all right! ;-) I continue to add a white decoration here and there... making a few. Will post later.

Hi Rosey, I'm headed over to see if you've posted about your tree. :-) Have a great day!

Really nice and practical too. I've had to remove some conifer and always feel guilty about it. At least you put it to use.

Your tree looks great, Shady, and I think this is a really "green" solution to cut one from your own yard that needed to go, so to speak, anyway. I bought an artificial tree 10 or 12 years ago after years of real ones, which is a story in itself, but I miss the scent and the unique shapes of the real trees.

I've seen those "Charlie Brown" trees MMD mentioned:)

troutbirder, Thanks! I hate taking any tree down, but there are a few in our "way back" that need to be cut because they're just too close together. And oak trees won't grow straight and tall if they don't have enough light.

Rose, Thanks! I have an artificial tree, too. After a few years, it pays for itself... but I'm really enjoying this little fella! :-)

That is the perfect kind of tree to showcase special ornaments ~ not Charlie brownish at all!

What a great idea, and what a nicely shaped tree! It looks great.

I think your tree is lovely! It looks like it would be easy to decorate...we have to have an artificial tree because of my older daughter's allergies, and it's so hard to hang ornaments on. I do miss 'the thrill of the hunt' for that perfect tree...no tree lots for us way back when. :) Lucky you to have one so close!

Hi Kathleen, The ornaments must be lightweight; hence the crocheted and paper ones, etc. Thank you. I like it, too! :-)

Thanks, Garden Lily! :-)

Hi Nancy, Thanks, Nancy! We usually use an artificial, as well. This tree is the last one on our place that I'll be able to chop. I should take a photo of the remainder of the tree. It would be a good place to string popcorn for the birds! :-)
