T is for Terrific! (I'm a week off!!)

Today is ABC Wednesday.
Click below to see who else is participating!

Terrific because these were seedlings begun in milk jug greenhouses in January 2009.

Tennessee Coneflowers from Gail
Last year they were little seedlings just sleeping.
This year they're creeping? (Some are leaping!)Terrific because this little plant was sent to me by Kathleen in 2008.
Filipendula rubra - 'Queen of the Prairie'
Last year it was creeping and this year it's leaping
(given the amount of shade it has to deal with!)
Great leaves. Hey! Doesn't that look like a . . .
Yep! Definitely something "brewing!" ;-)
Click here to see what this will look like soon!

Terrific because this is one of the items on "The Project List!"

Early last Spring, I created four panels of my own design. The photo below (taken 4/19/09) shows a panel in progress.
I do need to make one more. However, there are now two installed! Yea!! (Thanks to Mr. Shady!) ;-)

Some very nice, out-of-town friends visited last week. She helped with some necessary weeding. He cut the tops off three posts. I wanted the one on the right left "tall."

Everything has now a nice fresh coat of paint.

Can you see a little something atop that tall post?

Can you see it a little better here (below)?
The finial was purchased at a lumber store. I painted it to match the birdhouse my dad made. He had painted it blue and yellow. I embellished it a bit. I've also added racing stripes to the tall post. ha! What do you think?

This is a project I'm wanting to finish soon. Isn't it nice we've had the excuse of a Garden Tour? :-)

Terrific fence. Lovely garden.
I got a chuckle about your being Tardy.

omg Shady!!!!!! I LOVE your panels and your painted finial!!! I think they add a LOT of interest and structure to your already beautiful garden. You are going to get loads and loads of compliments from the tour (and your blogging friends).
I'm SO glad Filipendula is happy in your garden. She looks fantastic ~ better than her sisters she left behind even!! I'm sure she will spread nicely for you since she's doing that well. :-) Hooray, our swap was a smashing success!

Wow! Thank you, Roger. :-)

Hi Tash, Thanks for visiting. T for Tardy, right? ;-)

Hi Kathleen! I love that we have a mutual admiration society. :-) I can hardly wait until the other panels are in place (and the flower boxes are built - Mr. Shady volunteered)!! Won't you love it then?? Once the third panel is in place, I want to plant a Korean lilac (I think). Do you like the Forsythia I placed next to the birdhouse? Thanks for your enthusiasm!!

Great post!! Those leaves are very interesting, and do remind me of something else...I love your fence, from far, I thought maybe Bilbo was perched on top of a tall post, but your birdhouse is GORGEOUS, I'm sure they'll be very happy there! I replied to your question in my comments, but since I'm here I can let you know that Barbara Sherwood is planted in full shade, how about that? :) R

You have such variety of greens in your garden. Plus, you have ample spaces available for gardening.

Thank you for sharing an area of your garden.

The panels are great with all the lovely additions! The best part is your friends and your Dad's participations in this project. TTTTerrific!

Handy with a hammer, aren't you just!
That makes a great focal point in the garden.

"May your rice never be gummy and your flowers never washed out just before Open Day."

Old Chinese proverb. Well, sort of.

Ummm. Well. If you ever run short of projects for the garden Shady......

My own comments from last night seem to have disappeared, so I'll try again!! :-)

Rebecca, does that mean you'll save me some seeds? I'm now harvesting seeds from Geum triflorum 'Prairie Smoke' -- would you like some?

Hi Raised Beds - speaking of which(!) do you have veggies in yours?? I'm working on a little space in the raised bed garden ... hopefully late veggies, at the least. :-)

Hi Tatyana, Thank you - you are absolutely correct! Plants and memories seem to go perfectly hand-in-hand!

Hi Jo! Love the proverb... hope your use makes it effective. :-)

Too windy to haul rocks? Not! I hauled a few today and maybe just a few more tomorrow!

Hi Rosemary, Thanks! :-) And thanks for your visit.

Gail, you are definitely very generous. I'm not sure I'll need more seeds - but Someone will!! I've been sharing my plants. :-)

Hi Kate - I am flattered! I thought the panels turned out great, too. Keep me 'posted!' ;-)

Hi Troutbirder!! Do you have some ideas for me????? :-)
