Family left around 9:00 a.m. Hubby blew leaves off the front yard. He said it is "Nice" outdoors. I decided, "Okay. I'm going to mix birdfood." Into an empty tub, I poured a mixture of sunflower hearts, safflower seeds, a mix of little tiny seeds, and cracked corn. I filled our nice 3-story feeder in the front yard. Then I made another mix for future use. My hands were feeling quite cold by then, so I went in and grabbed my camera...
The yet unidentified bush, brandishing buds for Spring!
This is the backyard birdbath. At one time, the rabbit (on the left) had ears and a tail. The bird, center figure, used to have a round head and a bill. Are there critters out there needing a daily dose of resin?
Could be
"Plantimus Knownotimus" or
"Plantimus Plasticus." ;-)
There's still a bit of snow residing here and there.
These are the remainder of the late anemone blossoms.
On the back porch steps...
I didn't hear the doorbell, did you?

oooo, snow...wouldn't mind that much in VA...don't want a whole lot though!
:-) I know. I was just being wimpy. I'll like it better when I can be less busy and enjoy it better as it falls.
Nice post but what do you suppose made the tracks? Rabbits or raccoons?
Ah! Rabbits. You notice the two long prints and the two short ones? Guess they couldn't reach the doorbell! ;-)
Thanks for the visit. By the way, if you can find this post again... am I right in stating the Thanksgiving and Christmas cacti aren't really cacti??
Hi shady,
I'm guess I'm glad I was even remotely close to IDing the tracks. I'd never make it as a tracker.
Funny you should ask about Schlumbergias being cacti. I've been meaning to make a post about that subject because I've always been of the opinion that they weren't because they don't have aureoles and spines which all true cacti have. I'll ask the C&S forum and see what they say and let you know.
Sorry about the missing parts on your bird bath. I can relate. I have a squirrel that's been trying to work its way through the plastic roof of one of my bird feeders. They eat everything!!
It just makes me wonder what's absent in their diet! ha.
Do you have a photo? ;-)
Hey Shady,
I forgot I was suppose to come back with an update. I asked on the forum and CC are indeed cacti.
I learn something new every day.
Thanks for the return visit and the information. I don't know why I'm surprised... but I guess I am.
I have a cactus with many "babies" that needs repotting. I'm nervous about doing it. It's very spiney.
